We’ve posted two sets of top performers, statistical leaders, and a huge photo gallery. Also, every single player at the event has received an evaluation thanks to our hard-working staff.
Beginning Monday, we will release our initial Class of 2025 Watch List that we will use as a template to begin ranking the state’s best freshman. That rankings process will take place between now and the beginning of the high school season.
Before diving into all of that though, I wanted to take the opportunity to highlight 10 more individuals from our Freshman Showcase. These are five guards and five forwards/centers that people around the state will need to follow over the next four years.
Deric Cannady Deric Cannady 5'11" | PG Cathedral | 2025 State IN (Cathedral H.S. 2025)
There might not be a 2025 prospect that I’ve seen more at this point than Cannady. Between playing over the summer on the Prep Hoops Grit Region Circuit with Team Teague 2025, watching Cathedral practice, and now attending our showcase, Cannady has been in front of me a lot. He is a very talented attacking guard with a strong frame and the ability to get to the basket at any time. Will be a potential rotation piece at Cathedral right away.
Avery Cook Avery Cook 6'1" | PG Concordia Lutheran | 2025 IN (Fort Wayne Concordia H.S. 2025)
6’0″ shooting guard that really filled it up at our Freshman Showcase. Cook averaged double-figures on the day and showed his ability to score from all three levels. He will make up a very dynamic backcourt along with teammate Khalyn Williams-Thomas Khalyn Williams-Thomas 5'11" | PG Fort Wayne Wayne | 2025 State IN who will touch on shortly. I would suspect that you will begin hearing their two names sooner rather than later up in the Fort Wayne area.
Damien King Damien King 6'4" | SF Anderson | 2025 State IN (Anderson H.S. 2025)
Quite simply, King was one of the most impressive players at the showcase last Saturday. He is a bigger 6’3″ wing with the physicality and strength to overmatch his peers at this point. King was one of the leading scorers and rebounders at the event. Anderson is poised to have their best season in a long time this year and King should definitely play a role in their improvement.
Joshua Renfro Joshua Renfro 6'2" | SG Christian Academy | 2025 State IN (Christian Academy 2025)
Renfro is a 6’0″ guard that really jumped out to those in attendance at the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase. He is a very skilled player on the offensive end with the ability to score it in a variety of ways. He knocked in a couple of threes and got into the paint at will throughout the day. It won’t be surprising if he is one of the leading scorers at Christian Academy from day one. Nice prospect.
Khalyn Williams-Thomas Khalyn Williams-Thomas 5'11" | PG Fort Wayne Wayne | 2025 State IN (Fort Wayne Concordia H.S. 2025)
Athletic 5’11″ with long arms and a knack for attacking the basket off of the dribble. Williams-Thomas looked comfortable throughout the showcase pushing the ball hard in transition and leading the fast break. While his freshman teammate at Concordia, Avery Cook Avery Cook 6'1" | PG Concordia Lutheran | 2025 IN , is a little bit more of a shooter, Williams-Thomas is constantly looking to attack the basket. This duo has a chance to make a lot of noise in Fort Wayne in the next four years.
