Here is a look at the top performers in the game with many of them coming from the junior class.
Josiah Lake Josiah Lake 6'1" | PG Tualatin | 2023 State OR , Team Fly (2023 Tualatin)
Lake was MVP of the day as he scored a game-high 22 points and dished out a number of nice-looking assists. The 6-foot junior was in control of the basketball at all times and showed off a sweet stroke from three as well as off the dribble. He may seem slight of size but don’t let that fool you as he was very effective rebounding the basketball including a couple of tough offensive putbacks.
Jackson Cooper Jackson Cooper 6'5" | SF Cleveland | 2023 State OR , Team Fly (2023 Cleveland)
Cooper brought to the table what he usually does, overall hard-nosed physical play with toughness on the glass and defense. The junior forward displayed a nice touch on his mid-to-long range jumper and was strong with his drives into the lane.
Kalim Brown Kalim Brown 6'0" | CG Tigard | 2023 State OR , Team Fly (2023 Tigard)
In the past we’ve seen Brown mainly do his damage from the outside but in this title game, the 6-foot guard used his physical body and strength to really make an impact down low. He backed down and overpowered smaller defenders down low and finished through contact.
Christian Green Christian Green 6'1" | CG Cleveland | 2023 State OR , Team Fly (2023 Cleveland)
We’ve determined that Green is one of those players that you always have to watch out for the spectactular. The 6-foot-1 guard simply jumps out of the gym and every so often he’ll convert a drive or come flying in for an offensive board that makes your jaw drop. He had a couple of these moments on Sunday and also nailed a couple of open threes for good measure.
Brady Rice Brady Rice 6'2" | SG Beaverton | 2023 State OR , Team Fly (2023 Beaverton)
This was Rice’s first event with Team Fly but you would have never guessed the way that he fit in with things. That’s become standard for the junior guard as he simply blends into whatever is going on, hitting open shots and taking advantage of situations to score or set others up.
Nick Digiulio Nick Digiulio 5'9" | PG West Linn | 2024 State OR , DENY Basketball (2024 Wells)
Digiulio showed off some of his quick trigger release in burying four catch-and-shoot threes on his way to a team-high 20 points. The sophomore guard isn’t just a standstill shooter as he also had a couple of nice drives and finishes near the hoop.
Jonah Jones Jonah Jones 6'4" | PF Westside Christian | 2023 State OR , DENY Basketball (2023 Wells)
What we love about Jones is how bouncy he in the sense that he’s extremely light on his feet and this allows the 6-foot-4 forward to be an effective offensive rebounder. He scored 16 points on a variety of followups and a mid-range one-handed runner.
Leo Sewell Leo Sewell 5'9" | PG Wilson | 2022 State OR , DENY Basketball (2022 Wells)
Sewell didn’t get things going until the second half offensively when he started to knock down some threes and convert his drives to the basket. The senior guard was constantly in attack mode looking to score for himself or set others up.
Jacey Canalin Jacey Canalin 5'7" | PG Wells | 2024 State OR , DENY Basketball (2024 Wells)
Playing off of the basketball with Sewell playing, Canalin didn’t get as many offensive opportunities as he usually does playing with DENY but he took advantage of the ones he had. He canned a couple of threes and converted a handful of layups in transition.
