But it’s not too late to take a look back at some of the best performances turned in by players who will be back for another go round this fall.
Here are some of the best performances by Topeka 2023s in the Centennial League last season:
Jack Bachelor Jack Bachelor 6'0" | CG Washburn Rural | 2023 State KS , 6-foot guard, 2023, Washburn Rural:
The fundamentally sound, team-first Bachelor didn’t need to score a lot. There was a group of seniors at Rural last year who could score in bunches. But in his support role, Bachelor tossed in his share, highlighted by 14 points in a win against Manhattan.
Kaeden Bonner Kaeden Bonner 6'1" | SG Seaman | 2023 State KS , 6-foot guard, 2023, Seaman (pictured):
Few can fill it up quicker than the deep-shooting Bonner. He can rack up some high point totals. Perhaps the best night of his sophomore year was when he connected on five 3’s and 4-6 from the line for 23 points against Topeka High.
Aron Davis, 6-foot-3 forward, 2023, Seaman:
Davis sort of exploded on the scene with a 16-point outing against Washburn Rural early in the season. But his most impressive outing might have been the night he hit 6-6 from the line and scored 18 against Emporia.
Jahmir Kingcannon, 6-foot-3 forward, 2023, Highland Park:
Not yet a fixture on the varsity, Kingcannon broke out with five 3-pointers on just eight shots in a shocking win over undefeated Topeka West. The 15 points was his high for the season.
Jake Muller, 6-foot-2 guard, 2023, Hayden:
Muller provided scrappiness, defense, athleticism, and versatility to the Wildcats last season. But he didn’t always score a lot of points. He was huge against the talented Topeka West Chargers, though, with three 3-pointers, 2-2 from the line, and 15 total points.
Joe Otting Joe Otting 6'3" | C Hayden | 2023 State KS , 6-foot-3 center, 2023, Hayden:
There’s no question that Otting has a high-quality offensive game. He’s got power, touch, and fundamentals. But he doesn’t always score in bunches. For that reason, an outing against Wamego really stands out. Otting hit two 3-pointers and 10 buckets in all for 23 points.
Tre Richardson, 5-foot-10 guard, 2023, Highland Park:
Richardson played a backup role to the Scots collection of dynamic guards. But in a late-season loss to Topeka West, Richardson showed what he’s capable of. He buried four 3-pointers on just six attempts to finish with 12 points. Expect a lot more of that next season.
