Impressed with many teams that came out and here are some local ones that really turned some heads. Hopefully in the future every high school team in the state takes advantage of this opportunity.
Teams
Northridge
Was impressed with some of the grit that Northridge showed from various player on that team. The player that stood out the most was Sam Suvulich and his scoring ability. He is a lot bigger in person than he looks on film. He was scoring all over the floor. Wouldn’t be surprised if a local NJCAA team tries to scope him up.
RSL Academy
Wow! This is going to be fun. RSL Academy is building a program and from it’s youth teams all the way up to its varsity team they are all locked in and ready to play their role. Adam Stewart Adam Stewart 6'11" | C RSL Academy | 2022 State UT was a force in the middle as he has trimmed down a bit and with a lack of size due to some injury a role player like Junior Higby Junior Higby 6'5" | CG RSL Academy | 2023 State UT could step in and guard and rebound against some big trees. Davis Katoa looked the part as he had New Mexico University checking him out. Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn 6'2" | PG Montverde Academy | 2023 #42 Nation FL was just a head turning player. This program is on the way up.
Cyprus
While Cyprus was missing two key players in the Tia Brothers, MJ Tia MJ Tia 6'4" | SF Cyprus | 2022 State UT and Spies Tia Spies Tia 6'3" | PF Cyprus | 2023 State UT they still looked good. They played physical and the play the got from Quentin Meza Quentin Meza 6'0" | PG Cyprus | 2023 State UT and Diego Mulford Diego Mulford 5'10" | PG American Fork | 2024 State UT was great. Look out for Cyprus as they get healthy and return their football guys.
Westlake
Westlake looked just as physical as before. With less size but maybe more of an open look that will hurt some teams. They will also be able to switch 1-5 with most of their lineups. The addition of Dylan Jones Dylan Jones 6'6" | SG Westlake | 2022 State UT is starting to look good for him and Westlake alike.
Corner Canyon
Coaching staff over at CCHS is starting to figure out how to get their young players run and their older ones run as well. They are deep and they can shoot. Tyler Burraston Tyler Burraston 6'4" | SG Corner Canyon | 2022 State UT is lights out and so is Brody Kozlowski Brody Kozlowski 6'8" | SF Corner Canyon | 2024 State #103 Nation UT . Max Toombs Max Toombs 6'3" | CG Corner Canyon | 2023 State UT has some games where he looks like a player that could only be slowed down. Keep an eye on this young team, they’re good.
