A few seniors who weren’t so well known by the Prep Hoops staff really impressed Sunday, however. Here are a handful of seniors who ’popped’ at the Expo (in alphabetical order):
Aaron Doria Aaron Doria 6'2" Frontenac | 2022 KS , Team 10, 6-foot-2 guard, Frontenac:
The Doria twins were not well known to Prep Hoops scouts prior to Sunday night. Aaron jumped out as a big, physical guard who can handle the point. He’s a clever passer with a good eye for the open man. He worked to feed the post and to look up court instead of hogging the ball. Defensively he defended on the ball well and rebounded.
Michael Doria Michael Doria 6'2" Frontenac | 2022 KS , Team 11, 6-foot-2 guard, Frontenac:
Like his brother, Michael impressed with his athleticism and good size for a guard. He showed ability to hit shots from deep, as well as to put the ball on the floor to drive. He demonstrated some creativity with the ball, and was always on the hunt for shots. Both brothers impressed with their team-first approach.
Sam Hertzog Sam Hertzog 6'4" | CG Bishop Seabury Academy | 2022 KS , Team 6, 6-foot-4 forward, Seabury:
Last season was a rebuilding project for Seabury, so the team didn’t merit a lot of media attention. But Hertzog really stood out Sunday as a long, versatile big who can play the wing and handle the ball. Hertzog showed some nice moves in the lane and played with power. He’ll be a guy to watch this fall.
Parker Scott Parker Scott 6'1" Hayden Catholic | 2022 KS , Team 8, 6-foot-1 guard, Hayden:
Hayden will be open for business for any guard ready to handle both ball handling and scoring. Watch for Scott to seize a lot of those minutes this season. He’s a long, lanky ball handler who can create opportunities for himself and others. With his length, he can be effective against shooters and in the passing lane. He showed some smooth play making Sunday.
Alex Watts Alex Watts 6'0" Junction City | 2022 KS , Team 8, 6-foot guard, Junction City (pictured):
Junction City is so loaded with guard, it’s tough to carve out playing time. But Watts is so gritty, so willing to battle, it will be hard to keep him off the floor. He showed some ability to push the ball, penetrate and dish. He is always on the attack, a deceiving athlete who can finish at high speed. He also showed a quick release on his shot. But best of all, he’s a tenacious hustler.
