Below is a review of six prospects who played well during the sixth Saturday of action in the Comp Edge Fall League (King of Prussia, PA).
JP Baron JP Baron 6'2" | CG Pope John Paul II | 2022 State PA – 6’2” / Senior / Pope John Paul II / NJ Shoreshots / Combo Guard: Baron is a combo-guard who can score at all three levels and on Saturday he did just that in PJP’s two wins. His high percentage three-point shooting was especially impressive and was a big reason Baron average 19.5 ppg. on Saturday. When Baron was not scoring the ball, his high basketball IQ and excellent court vision enabled him to direct PJP’s half-court offense in an efficient and precise manner. Baron possesses surprising hops. Last week Baron picked up an offer from West Chester University.
Jack Blum – 6’4” / Junior / Council Rock North / Newtown Rebels / Wing: Blum is a versatile wing who knocks down threes and can score in transition. He owns a nice spin move which he can execute on the fast break or in the half-court to get past a defender. Blum has good court vision and is a willing passer. His length and active hands are disruptive defensively. He is an especially effective weak side help shot blocker. Blum also rebounds well at both ends of the floor. If you watch Blum closely, you will see that he has all the intangibles and does the little things that help teams win games.
Kaydin Ford Kaydin Ford 5'10" | PG Abington Friends | 2024 State PA – 5’10” / Sophomore / Abington Friends / Philly Pride Select / Point Guard: It is no secret that Ford had a very impressive summer on the grassroots circuit while playing with Philly Pride and his recruiting stock continues to rise here during “fall ball”. Two Saturdays ago, the electric lead guard combined for 45 points; 15 rebounds and 10 assists across two wins by AFS. This past Saturday, Ford continued his scoring ways (16 points in win over Phoenixville) ) by creating turnovers for easy transition baskets and relentlessly attacking the cup in the half-court. Ford plays a ludicrous up-tempo style that places constant pressure on opposing defenses. In the last week, Ford has taken unofficial visits to Temple and Penn.
Jackson Hicke Jackson Hicke 6'5" | SF Radnor | 2023 State PA – 6’5” / Junior / Radnor / SJ Hoops Elite-Gray / Wing: Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that Hicke is one of the hottest 2023 prospects in Southeastern Pennsylvania. In Radnor’s two wins on Saturday, he further solidified his reputation as a wing who can score at all three levels. He was especially lethal from behind the arc where he knocked home spot up threes as well as triples off the dribble and coming off pick action. Hicke posted 22 points (unofficially) in Radnor’s win over WC Henderson. Hicke recently received an offer from West Chester University.
Ryan Schaffer – 6’6″ / Senior / Boyertown / Power Forward: It is rare that we start a player profile at the defensive end, but there is no denying Schaffer tremendous impact on that facet of Boyertown’s game. He anchors their defense by blocking shots, controlling the defensive boards (14 rebs in two games), and orchestrating their team defense with his communication skills. Once Schaffer has cleaned the boards and thrown an outlet pass, he is exceptionally good at rim running for a bucket of his own or to open the floor for Boyertown’s wings. buckets. At the offensive end, Schaffer is a back-to-the-basket style player who will not hesitate to finish with authority.
Josh Twersky – 6’3″ / Senior / Wissahickon / Eastern PA Elite / Small Forward: There were no official stats available for Wissahickon’s two wins on Saturday, but the eye test tells us that Twersky led the team in rebounds, blocks and charges taken. Additionally, Twersky flashed the ability to hit threes as well as get buckets on dribble pull ups. In short, Twersky is a well-rounded prospect who could help a D2/D3 program. The Trojans lost scoring machine Matt Compas Matt Compas 6'3" | CG Wissahickon | 2021 State PA (1st Team All-SOL selection) to graduation, so this winter Twersky will be counted on to help fill in the scoring gap created by his departure.
