The first session will take place at U-Turn in Richmond with games starting at 1. There are 18 teams in the event, and will be two more sessions on 10/10 and 10/24 at U-Turn as well.
There are a lot of prospects to preview in the event, so stay tuned on Prep Hoops and if you can’t make it in person you can tune into the live stream on the CBG Live Network.
Here’s a look at part two of the many 2023 prospects that will be in attendance.
Etienne Strothers Etienne Strothers 6'1" | PG Menchville | 2023 State VA | 6’1” PG | Menchville
Strothers is emerging as one of the top prospects in the 757 and already holds a number of division one offers, and he’s only going to continue to develop and blow up as he’s seen by more coaches. A smooth guard who can knock it down from deep and is an athletic finisher at the rim, Strothers makes it look easy as he can control the game and is able to take over as a playmaker and a scorer with ease.
AJ Clark AJ Clark 6'2" | SG Menchville | 2023 State VA | 6’3” WG | Menchville
Clark showed flashes of brilliance in the CBG Fall Series last year and with Boo Williams 16U this year, and he’s a prospect with a very high ceiling and could use the platform to make a name for himself with Strothers and him stepping into more pertinent roles for their team this year. The 6’3” lefty is a tremendous athlete with good end-to-end speed and a quick first step, he can get up and play above the rim with ease and he has tons of potential on the defensive end of the floor.
Stylz Gardner Stylz Gardner 5'11" | CG Peninsula Catholic | 2023 State VA | 5’11” CG | Peninsula Catholic
Gardner has been a very good player for PC over the past few years, but last year he really blew up as he showed he’s one of the craftiest scorers in the 757 hanging buckets on players left and right and putting up some big numbers throughout the year. The 5’11” combo guard is crafty off the bounce and excellent at creating space to get his shot off, he can make tough shots from multiple levels and when he gets hot he can fill it up in bunches.
Greg Jones Greg Jones 6'5" | SF Hayfield | 2023 State #258 Nation VA | 6’5” WF | Hayfield
Jones has a chance to really put himself on the radar in the Fall Series as the 6’5” wing is one of VA’s most underrated prospects and has tremendous long term upside moving forward. At his size, Jones has a great build and is very athletic and can play above the rim, he has good ball skills and is a good playmaker at his size and he’s able to play and guard multiple positions as well.
Reuben McEachern | 5’10” PG | Carmel School
McEachern was a standout at the CBG Winter Series with Team 22 last year and will reclassify at Carmel School after transferring from Henrico. The 5’10” point guard is a true floor general and a flat out winner that is quick and strong with the ball, he makes plays for others and makes others better and he does all of the little things to help his team win.
MJ Smith MJ Smith 6'2" | SG Manor | 2023 VA | 6’2” WG | Manor
Smith is a player that has a chance to get on the radar of college coaches at the Fall Series as he was quietly one of the 757’s top scorers as a freshman leading then Wilson to the state championship game before it was canceled as well as his sophomore season due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 6’2” off guard is labeled that because he’s a very high level shooter with deep range and consistency from deep, but he can also play on the ball and create shots for himself and others and is an underrated athlete as well.
Trey Chapman Trey Chapman 6'4" | SF Manor | 2022 VA | 6’4” WF | Manor
Chapman was about to head to Veritas before transferring to Manor and he’s the perfect addition to this group to go with Smith and a bevy of young prospects who will feed off of his energy and ability to impact the game on both ends. The 6’4” wing is long and athletic and thrives in transition, he can stick it from deep off the catch and he uses his length defensively to cause problems.
