Continue ReadingEarlier this week we published the fall edition of our Pennsylvania Class of 2025 prospect rankings. Today we decided to scour those rankings and unearth five players who are flying under the radar.
Below are five southeastern Pennsylvania prospects you need to keep an eye on for the remainder of the fall and during the 2021-22 high school season, because they are certain to move up in our next set of rankings.
No. 76… Carter Wamsley Carter Wamsley 6'7" | PF Eastern York | 2025 State PA – 6’5” / Eastern York / York Ballers / Wing: Wamsley is a beast on the blocks who can score in close over defenders with his soft touch. He can also dominate a game via the offensive glass by converting boards into buckets. Additionally, Wamsley has displayed the ability to score off the dribble with his pull up midrange jump shot. Like most modern day bigs, Wamsley is not satisfied with simply being an interior force. His solid mechanics and shooting range allow him to operate as legitimate threat from behind the arc. Recently at the Hoop Group Fall Jam Fest (PA), Wamsley averaged 22 points and 13 boards per game while shooting 72% from the field and 41% from three (5-12 on 3PAs). The upside on this freshman is very intriguing.
No. 90… Khamai Orange Khamai Orange 6'2" | PG Delaware County Christian | 2025 State PA – 5’9” / Delaware County Christian / Hoops4Life / Point Guard: Orange is a crafty floor general who can drive to the hole with either hand and finish in traffic. This wiry lead guard is a solid mid-range shooter too. If the coach wants to run two-man action, good news, Orange excels in the pick and roll game. Orange’s speed and quick hands make him a superb on ball defender. Also on the defensive end, Orange excels at knifing through passing lanes for a steal and then an easy bucket.
No. 99…Nasir Williams – 5’10” / Sankofa Freedom / NEBC / Point Guard: This high motor (on both ends) lead guard plays with a noticeable air of confidence and for good reason — Williams is an exceptionally talented prospect. He owns superhero level quickness so he can blow past a defender in the blink of an eye. Once he gets into the paint, Williams is a solid finisher around the rim. In the transition game, his speed and change of direction skills produce easy buckets for Williams or a teammate he drops a dime on. Williams lateral movement and anticipation skills make him an elite on ball defender. As his jump shot improves, Williams will develop into a legitimate three-level scoring threat and thus a real problem for SFA opponents.
No. 105… Larry Zhan Larry Zhan 6'0" | CG Germantown Academy | 2025 State PA – 6’0” / Germantown Academy / Philly Pride Aces /Combo Guard: Zhan is a taller guard prospect (appears to be a 6-foot+) who is an aggressive offensive player. He possesses the ability to knock down shots from numerous spots on the court. Additionally, he can slice up a defense with the dribble and then score via the floater or a lay-in. Zhan is a willing and committed defender who frequently causes turnovers that led to easy baskets. In July Zhan posted an impressive weekend at the Full Court Press tournament including an 18-point effort vs Cecil Kirk (MD). He followed that event up with another notable stretch of runs at the Marquee Hoops Nationals (PA). Zhan’s highlight of the Marquee Hoops event was a 15-point game vs. grassroots circuit powerhouse Team Thrill (MD).
No. 113… Alfonso Burnett Alfonso Burnett 6'2" | CG Susquehanna Township | 2025 State PA – 6’2” / Susquehanna Twp / Team Final Red /Combo Guard: If we had to classify Burnett, we would label him as an electric combo-guard who can score at all three levels. However, that categorization does not do his well-rounded game justice. Simply put Burnett is a playmaker on the court. In addition to scoring, he is an incredible facilitator for others, rebounds the ball well, can play in transition (filling a lane or with the ball) and direct a team’s half-court sets. In July this incredibly talented prospect played up with TFR’s 15U squad. Then during the last four tournaments of the summer he earned his way into the starting lineup. This past July he averaged 11 points; 5 rebounds; and 5 assists per game while shooting 41% from three. Currently Burnett is averaging close to 18 ppg. in the Spooky Nook Fall League. Expect Burnett to be a major contributor for Susquehanna’s varsity team this winter.
