Continue ReadingThe next class to update is the rising Sophomore group. This 2024 class has some quality depth to it and there are more and more players emerging all the time. Our latest update expands the list to 95 players and has seen some movement in the top 10. Here’s a look at the latest Top Ten in 2024. Remember, these rankings are predominantly based on college potential.
Travis Perry Travis Perry 6'2" | PG Lyon County | 2024 State #115 Nation KY , Lyon County – Perry continues to have momentum in recruiting and has been a popular name on several college campuses this fall. On the court, Travis is on track to break the all time scoring record in Kentucky high school history and will have a shot to get Lyon County to Rupp Arena for the next 3 seasons.
Ayden Evans Ayden Evans 6'9" | C Elizabethtown | 2024 State KY , Elizabethtown – Moving into the number 2 spot, Evans has a lot of momentum on the court and off right now. The 6’8 post has earned his first offer (from West Virginia) and has been on campus at Louisville than half their student body. It will be interesting to see how the move to Elizabethtown turns out for Ayden but his stock is trending way up.
Damone King Damone King 6'0" | PG DeSales | 2024 State KY , DuPont Manual – Right on the heels of Perry and Evans at the top of the list, King also earned his first offer last month (from Ohio) and has been on his fair share of unofficial visits the last month. Damone is a tough guard and a great leader who knows how to run a team and is in the mix to be the best player in the class, long term.
Trent Noah Trent Noah 6'7" | SF Harlan County | 2024 State #139 Nation KY , Harlan County – Noah falls a couple of spots but only because he missed most of the AAU season due to injury and was hindered when he played in July. A broken foot cost Trent 3 months but he had as good a freshman season as anyone in the state last season and should be among the state leaders in scoring as a Sophomore.
Jayden Miles, Western – The big man from Louisville is 6’8 and still growing and just turned 15. His potential is way way up there but Jayden’s skill level is still improving and could eventually allow him to be a stretch 4 or even a big wing. Jayden usually plays with a high motor and can be a difference maker with his shot blocking on the defensive end.
Johnny Djema Johnny Djema 6'8" | PF Evangel Christian | 2024 State KY , Evangel Christian – One-third of the trio of bigs at Evangel, Johnny is probably the most raw of the trio but his potential is undeniable. Long and athletic, Djema excels as a rim runner on offense and rim protector on the defensive end. He’s also a good rebounder. His development will be one to monitor over the next couple of seasons.
Jacob Tucker Jacob Tucker 6'3" | SG Fairdale | 2024 State KY , Fairdale – The best player in Louisville who never gets talked about, Tucker is a high level shooter and a good athlete who will not hesitate to dunk on someone who gets in his way. Jacob had a very good summer of AAU after a really strong freshman season. He’s one to monitor as a potential D1 scholarship recipient.
Jacob Hand Jacob Hand 6'4" | SF Holy Cross | 2024 State KY , Holy Cross (Covington) – Another potential D1 kid, Hand filled up the stat sheet with regularity last season for Holy Cross and this summer with the Louisville Prospects. Jacob is a good athlete and above average shooter with range. He would get more hype if he went to one of Louisville’s big public schools.
Kaydon Custard Kaydon Custard 6'2" | PG Harrison County | 2024 State KY , Harrison County – A three sport athlete, Custard may be the best bully guard in the class. He gets downhill and finishes through contact consistently. Kaydon is also a good shooter who picks and chooses his spots. Most impressively, Kaydon has an elite level motor and never gives up on plays.
Blake Reed Blake Reed 5'10" | PG Mason County | 2024 KY , Bracken County – If Perry weren’t getting all the headlines about possibly breaking the KHSAA scoring record, Reed would be. Blake has been torching nets for the last few years and is going to end up very high on the career scoring list when he’s done. In addition to being a good scorer, Blake is a good passer and can play hard nosed defense.
