Now entering their sophomore seasons, these seven 2024 prospects have the potential to have breakout years in terms of productivity at the varsity level!
Jaden Neish Jaden Neish 5'9" | PG St. Croix Lutheran | 2024 MN (5’9 2024 PG, St. Croix Lutheran)- Jaden had a solid freshman season, providing production off the bench for an experienced squad. St. Croix Lutheran graduated almost all of their lineup from last season, so Jaden will have plenty of opportunity to produce at a high level this winter. He may be a bit undersized but he’s a highly skilled guard with a creative handle that allows him to create space or attack the basket. Jaden has range well beyond the arc, and a quick release that allows him to get off shots with just a little bit of space. Last season I watched him put up 13 points against a loaded South St. Paul backcourt, and I really liked the intensity and fearlessness that he played with in that game, as I think it’s a sign of things to come this winter.
Henry Tschetter Henry Tschetter 6'3" | SG Stewartville | 2024 State MN (6’2 2024 G, Stewartville)- Like Jaden, we saw glimpses of Henry’s ability at the varsity level as a freshman. And like St. Croix Lutheran, Stewartville graduated a lot of talent last season. Henry is one of the prospects expected to take on a bigger role this upcoming season, and we could see him torch some opposing defenses with his outside shooting ability. Henry does a nice job of moving without the ball, especially when one of his bigs gets a touch on the block, and he’s able to shake his man to find an opening for a kickout pass. He’s a composed finisher in transition and you won’t see him force many bad shots.
Brody Wishart Brody Wishart 6'2" | SG Buffalo | 2024 State MN (6’2 2024 G, Buffalo)- Even if he doesn’t see a big scoring role this season, I think that Brody’s energy could make a big impact for this team. He’s one of those players who just seems to be everywhere defensively, whether he’s jumping passing lanes, getting into helpside position to draw a charge or block a shot, or sprinting across the floor to dive for a loose ball. This summer I saw him make those type of plays constantly for D1 Minnesota, as he’s the type of player who looks to make an impact on a game no matter if he’s scoring the ball or not. He’s not just a defensive player though as Brody has a quick burst to attack the basket with the ability to finish in traffic. Brody has also shown the vision to get into the lane and locate and open teammate for a clean look.
Tameron Ferguson Tameron Ferguson 6'2" | PG St. Cloud Tech | 2024 State MN (5’11 2024 PG, St. Cloud Tech)- I had the chance to watch Tameron play JV for Osseo last winter, and even though his shot wasn’t falling he still impressed with his playmaking ability. He was a threat in the pick & roll because he’s a composed ball handler and was able to recognize when the space was there to thread the needle to his big or swing the ball and keep the offense going. Tameron has a nice feel for the game and plays with the type of change of pace that gives defenders difficulties in keeping close to him. Drop too far off and he can plant and elevate for a mid-range pull up. Really like his playmaking ability and think he can have a big impact for Tech this winter.
Corey Dotson jr Corey Dotson jr 6'4" | SF Cristo Rey | 2024 State MN . (6’4 2024 W, Cristo Rey Jesuit)- With the Burgess brothers graduated, that’s roughly 30 points a game that need be replaced. Corey has the ability to step in and make an impact with his long and lanky frame on both ends of the floor. Defensively he’ll provided some necessary size to help defend on the wing and even in the post at times. On the offensive end he can handle it well at his size, and has the ability to attack the basket on straight-line drives and use his long frame to extend and finish at the rim. The 2024 wing has some nice potential moving forward.
Grayson Grove Grayson Grove 6'9" | PF Alexandria Area | 2024 State #171 Nation MN (6’7 2024 PF, Alexandria)- After a deep run in the state tournament last year, Alexandria figures to once again have a competitive team, and after a strong summer Grayson looks ready to step into that varsity rotation. Grayson possesses some solid mobility at around 6’7, and the size that allows him to be a defensive presence in the paint. Offensively he’s good in the pick & roll as he has the coordination to catch and go up balanced to finish, but he can also pop out and knock down the open three. He’s a well rounded frontcourt prospect with a versatile skillset so he could be used in multiple ways this winter.
Marley Baah-Yeboah (6’3 2024 W, Lakeville South)- Lakeville South has a lot of experience, but Marley brings a spark of explosiveness around the rim that could earn him a strong role as a sophomore. He has some size and the athleticism to be a versatile piece defensively, and he’s tough to keep out of the paint on the offensive end. Marley has the strength to keep his balance through some contact, and the explosive ability to elevate off two feet and finish above the rim. He’s had some strong performances in various fall leagues and will look to carry over that form into the high school season.
