These seven players either played in the lower levels of their high school programs as freshmen, or saw small roles on varsity, but look primed to play key roles this winter.
Jack Daugherty Jack Daugherty 6'8" | PF Brookfield Central | 2024 State #311 Nation WI (6’7 2024 F, Brookfield Central)- Jack saw consistent minutes off the bench for a talented team last season, and will be needed to help replace some of that lost production this winter. His size at 6’7 will be necessary on the defensive end in the Greater Metro conference, but he also brings some skill to the offensive end. Jack has a smooth stroke from beyond the arc, and will force other teams’ bigs to step out and guard him on the perimeter. He’ll be a threat in the pick & pop, and can also handle the ball well at his size. With his budding mobility and length, look for him to play a key role for an always strong Brookfield Central program.
Will Hornseth Will Hornseth 6'8" | PF De Pere | 2024 State #208 Nation WI (6’7 2024 PF, De Pere)- Sticking with the trend of breakout post players, Will Hornseth Will Hornseth 6'8" | PF De Pere | 2024 State #208 Nation WI had a massive summer, and looks to carry that production over to the varsity level. Already holding two D1 offers, Will is a mobile big man at around 6’7-6’8 who can take a game over in the paint. He scores with his back to the basket, and has shown some touch around the rim with either hand and a few different simple post moves that he can go to on the block. In transition he can keep up with a fast paced game as he runs the floor hard leading to open dunks and lay-ups. Defensively he’s a shot blocking presence and isn’t afraid to switch and guard on the perimeter for periods of time. With some dangerous shooters surrounding him, he may see a lot of isolated looks down low.
Aidan Konop Aidan Konop 6'2" | SG Sussex Hamilton | 2024 State WI (6’1 2024 G, Sussex Hamilton)- Really liked the flashes that Aidan showed on the defensive end last year as a freshman. He didn’t play a huge role on the offensive end, but in a few of the games I saw he was the worker who was tasked with guarding the opposing team’s best player. Aidan is a hard worker with a motor that doesn’t stop defensively, and as a sophomore he should also step into a big offensive role to form a 1-2 punch with one of the top 2023 guards in the state. He can stretch the floor from deep but also create for himself and others off the dribble. Could see him being a stat-stuffer with his scoring, passing vision, and rebounding ability at his size.
Brogan Finnegan Brogan Finnegan 6'4" | SG Waterford | 2024 State WI (6’4 2024 SG, Waterford)- Brogan may not be as well known at this stage as some of the other prospects on this list, but he’s started to make some noise this fall. He has strong positional size, and is a confident scorer on the wing. At the Wisconsin Swing fall league he was averaging over 23 ppg in the 9th and 10th grade division, and is a player who can light it up from beyond the arc. Waterford lost a lot of their production from last season, leaving the opportunity for the sophomore to step into a key role immediately at the varsity level, and if he’s given the green light we could see him produce immediately.
Quinton Lomack Quinton Lomack 6'1" | CG Madison La Follette | 2024 WI (6’2 2024 G, Madison La Follette)- At 6’2 Quinton has a strong frame that allows him to compete against older competition, so he should fit right in at the varsity level. La Follette didn’t have a season last year, but they have some talented pieces to step in, and Quinton should be a piece of that puzzle. He’s dangerous putting the ball on the floor and attacking the basket where he’s a crafty finisher in traffic, and he’s also no afraid to post up smaller guards and get physical in the paint. Defensively he can guard bigger than his height due to his strength, which will make him a versatile piece on that end as well.
Langdon Nordgaard Langdon Nordgaard 6'3" | SF West De Pere | 2024 WI (6’3 2024 SF, West De Pere)- Langdon is a physically advanced player for his age, with a strong frame and solid height at 6’3. He’s been a standout on the football field this fall, but don’t be surprised to see him make an impact on the hardwood as well. Langdon is a grinder who’s not afraid to scrap for loose balls or compete against size for rebounds on either end of the floor. Offensively he’s a threat to knock down threes when given too much space, and moves well without the ball to set up some clean looks at the basket with backdoor cuts.
Willie Williams Willie Williams 6'0" Racine Park | 2024 WI Jr. (6′ 2024 PG, Racine Park)- Park is still in a rebuilding faze after graduating a loaded 2019 class, and Willie Williams Willie Williams 6'0" Racine Park | 2024 WI provides them with a key piece to build around for the next three seasons. He’s constantly in attack mode, as he’s a quick guard with a shifty handle to break his man down and get to the rim. Once in the paint he’s one of the top finishers in the class, as he can finish with an array of flashy reverse lay-ups, or draw contact and get to the foul line a handful of times each game. The majority of his scoring comes at the rim at this point, but he’s also a gifted passer which leaves defenders honest. Once he beats his initial defender it’s over because he can dish it off to an open teammate at the last second for a high percentage look.
