Continue ReadingEarlier this week we published our Class of 2024 prospect rankings and by now you are familiar with the names who have remained at the top list for a year now. Names like five-star recruits Malachi Palmer Malachi Palmer 6'6" | SF Mt. Zion Prep | 2024 #53 Nation MD , Ahmad Nowell Ahmad Nowell 6'0" | PG Imhotep Charter | 2024 State #36 Nation PA and Moses Hipps Moses Hipps 6'4" | SG AZ Compass Prep | 2024 State AZ .
So today we decided to review the Pennsylvania Class of 2024 rankings and reveal five players who used the summer 2021 grassroots period as well as September’s “fall ball” events to significantly increase their recruiting stock.
Below are five southeastern Pennsylvania stock risers you need to keep an eye on for the remainder of the fall and during the 2021-22 high school season.
38 to 28… Jeremiah White Jeremiah White 6'6" | PF Imhotep Charter | 2024 State PA – 6’6”/ Imhotep Charter / Philly Pride National UAA / Wing: There is no doubt White was a huge reason Philly Pride National finished at No. 1 in our summer 15U Top 10 rankings. This athletic wing player has a long wingspan, quick second jump and great basketball instincts. That trifecta makes him an intimidating shot blocker and an elite rebounder (7 rpg. in July). White also has the skills, quickness, and agility to convert second chance opportunities through contact. When that contact produced foul calls, White converted from the free throw line at a high clip. Lastly, White is bouncy as hell, so he will not hesitate to knife through traffic, and finish over a defender with authority. White is a superb prospect to keep an eye on this fall/winter.
115 to 90… Kaydin Ford Kaydin Ford 5'10" | PG Abington Friends | 2024 State PA – 5’7” / Abington Friends / Philly Pride Select / Point Guard: Over a five game stretch this summer Ford played stellar basketball, averaging 21.8 ppg. and 5 apg. A 25-point game and a 31-point effort during that span certainly grabbed the attention of college coaches. Ford has been all gas, no brakes this fall as well. Over his last three games in the 2021 Comp Edge Fall League, he is averaging 20.3 ppg. When he has the rock, Ford plays with a great deal of pace which means opposing defenses are constantly under pressure. His quickness and ability to blow past defenders with the dribble allow him to score at the rim frequently. His 3-point shot is respectable enough that defenders cannot sag off him which plays right into Ford’s high-level dribble-drive skill set. On defense he terrorizes opposing guards with his quick hands, excellent lateral movement, and anticipation abilities. He recently took unofficial visits to Penn and Temple.
NR to 105…Josh Reed – 6’1” / Archbishop Wood / Philly Revolution / Combo Guard: Reed is a high-level slasher type of backcourt prospect who can get buckets with the best guards in the Class of 2024. During July 2021 he posted games of 28 points; 26 points (vs. We R1); 25 points (vs. K-Low Elite); and 23 points (vs. Philly Pride Select). For the month he averaged 18 ppg. Once Reed gets to the rim, he is capable of finishing with either hand. He also displayed an improved jump shot during this recruiting period. But Reed is more than just a scoring machine. He a is a true all-around playmaker who facilitates for others (led the Revolution is assists), is a fantastic rebounder for his size and a superb on-ball defender.
NR to 124… Camden Burns Camden Burns 6'0" | CG SCH Academy | 2024 State PA – 5’11” / SCH Academy / NJ Scholars Elite / Combo Guard: If you watched Burns play last season at MLK High School (PA) or this summer with NJ Scholars Elite, the one aspect of his game that jumped out at you right away was his mid-range scoring. To be honest, Burns has one of the most unstoppable mid-range pull up games in the area. His ability to dribble-drive with either hand, stop on a dime and then knock down a jumper over a defender is a thing of beauty. This info is in every opponent’s scouting report but having a defender “play off” Burns is not the answer. If you give him room, Burns will kill you from the perimeter because he is an excellent in-rhythm 3-point shooter. In 2020-21 he averaged 17 ppg. for MLK and recorded 29 points vs. a deep and talented Archbishop Carroll (PA) squad. Burns (3rd Team All-Philly Public League selection) is an incredible addition for SCHA.
NR to 211… Isaac Dye Isaac Dye 6'3" | SG State College Area | 2024 PA – 6’3” / State College Area / Team Final Red HGSL / Shooting Guard: Dye relocated from Houston, Texas right before the summer circuit tipped off and hooked on with Team Final Red for their July tournaments. Dye is an excellent 3-point shooter (4.4 made threes per game) who does a fantastic job of stretching the floor for his teammates. When his squad is out on the fast break, Dye can fill the lanes and finish through traffic or run to the wings for a transition three. Finally, he owns enough ball handling skills to be a legit threat to score off dribble-drives. During eight game stretch for TFR (6-2) in mid-July, Dye averaged 14 ppg. The July circuit was one hell of a Pennsylvania debut for Dye, and we anticipate his elevated level of play will continue this winter at SCA.
