South Florida has a ton of players ranked inside the top 50. For this segment, I will highlight players outside of that area.
Here we go….
Kellen Cashman Kellen Cashman 6'3" | CG Monarch | 2023 FL – Monarch (PH. 142)
Cashman has been a prospect I’ve seen since his days at Plantation American Heritage. I also saw him at the Kreul Classic and came away impressed. The 6-foot-3 combo guard has a crafty handle and adequate athleticism to penetrate the lane. Cashman plays steady and rarely makes mistakes. A good IQ prospect on the floor.
Jermaine Hunter Jermaine Hunter 5'10" | PG Jupiter Christian | 2023 FL – Jupiter Christian (144)
Hunter could be a prominent point guard in Palm Beach County. The 5-foot-10 prospect averaged 5.8 points, 5.8 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game while shooting 35 percent from the field as a sophomore. Obviously, I would like that shooting percentage to rise. However, Hunter has plenty of athleticism and vision to be an all-around point guard.
Derrick Edouard Derrick Edouard 6'3" | SF North Miami | 2023 State FL – North Miami (PH. 82)
Derrick Edouard Derrick Edouard 6'3" | SF North Miami | 2023 State FL has been a staff favorite over the past few seasons. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged over 11 points per game while shooting 43 percent from the field as a sophomore. Moreover, Edouard went 42-of-120 (35 percent) from deep. His long arms give him an advantage when putting up an attempt. Edouard has plenty of athleticism and movement to get up a shot in these circumstances. Overall, he’s on a good team with nice depth around him in the backcourt.
Sami Elkamel Sami Elkamel 6'8" | PF Pembroke Pines Charter | 2023 State FL – Pembroke Pines Charter (PH. 64)
Sami Elkamel Sami Elkamel 6'8" | PF Pembroke Pines Charter | 2023 State FL moves over to Pembroke Pines Charter after playing for Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian. The 6-foot-8 forward has a good amount of size and mass to be a damaging post player. I think he just needs playing time and his game will speak for itself. Elkamel’s frame could help the Jaguars in the frontcourt.
Ray Allen Jr. – Gulliver Prep (PH. 62)
Ray Allen Jr. plays with a high motor and is a great on-ball defender. The 6-foot-1 guard will pressure you from baseline to baseline. I think Allen has enough pop to attack the rim and will finish with either hand. I would like to see him continue to improve as a mid-range and perimeter shooter. He has plenty of time to become a household name of his own at Gulliver Prep.
Amani Drayton Amani Drayton 6'5" | CG Boyd Anderson | 2023 FL – McArthur (PH. 84)
Amani Drayton Amani Drayton 6'5" | CG Boyd Anderson | 2023 FL is an explosive leaper with basketball talent over in Hollywood. The 6-foot-5 forward averaged 7.6 points and 3.4 rebounds as a sophomore. Drayton has athleticism with a background in track and field as a high jumper. In fact, Drayton is one of the best in the Sunshine State in that category. Therefore, you know he has ability to play above the rim on the court. Look for him to cement himself as a key player for the Mustangs this season.
