Lot’s of eyes and new exposure have been on this group from last high school season through the summer circuit. Let’s take a look at the biggest stock risers from this class.
Eli Shetlar Eli Shetlar 6'4" | SG Andover | 2023 State KS , 6’4 SG, Andover, 16 spots: Our biggest riser this re-ranking, Shetlar put together a really solid high school season followed by a huge spring and summer. Continuing to expand his game from just his elite shooting, Shetlar is piecing together his off the bounce game, playmaking for others, and defending tough guards on the perimeter. He is poised for a monster season at Andover this year as a part of a loaded roster with another big time stock riser. Averaged nearly 9 points and 4 rebounds per game last year, expect big leaps in those.
BJ Redic BJ Redic 6'2" | SF Andover | 2023 State KS , 6’3 W, Andover, 12 spots (Pictured): Shetlar’s teammate is our second biggest riser this go around. Redic is an athletic monster on the basketball floor, thrives in transition, gets downhill, plays with great pace with the ball, and when in attack mode, is tough to keep from the painted area. Averaged 8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game last year, and like Shetlar should put up some big numbers on the high school scene this year. Redic turned a bunch of heads on the grassroots scene this summer, earning a ton of top performer nods on the Prep Hoops circuit with big time game after big time game.
Garrett Robertson Garrett Robertson 5'10" | PG Hutchinson | 2023 State KS , 5’10 PG, Hutchinson, 4 spots: Had a great summer helping run the show in the back court for a really good Oz Elite team. A knockdown shooter who can also makes plays off the dribble for himself at the rim or both others on kick outs or dump offs. Robertson will be a point guard to watch this high school season as he looks to lead Hutchinson to a big year.
Tyson Ruud Tyson Ruud 6'5" | SF Basehor-Linwood | 2023 State KS , 6’5 W, Basehor-Lindwood, 4 spots: Will have a much expanded role on the varsity squad this year at Basehor, and this spring and summer session proved that he is up to the task. Shot the ball at an extremely high level for SSA 2023 Black, ran the wings and was a terror in transition, had a couple of massive dunks, and blocked shots and rebounded it really well.
Will Rost Will Rost 6'3" | SG Aquinas | 2023 State KS , 6’5 W, St Thomas Aquinas, 3 spots: Busting into the top 5 for the class of 2023 is Rost. The Aquinas wing solidified himself with a strong high school season, and big time play for both Drive 5 and Run this summer. The lengthy and versatile wing is a top tier shooter, plays with a big time motor, and has the toughness to be a big time leader for his high school squad this year who will be much improved.
Avery Johnson Avery Johnson 6'2" | CG Maize | 2023 KS , 6’3 G, Maize, 3 spots: The Maize guard will be looking to continue his highlight making basketball career with his elite athleticism and playmaking ability. The defending state champs will come back loaded, and Johnson will once again be a big reason why they are successful. He averaged 13 points, 3 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals per game last high school season and expect more of the same this year.
