Continue ReadingTrinity Christian School will enter their 20th season and the program has seen quite a bit of success over those years. This year they will have a different look as the team is composed mostly of underclassman talent and new transfers.
Junior Guard Xavier Tubbs: One of the few returners that they have on this squad, he’s embraced the leadership role and did a nice job throughout the day, balancing his scoring and facilitating. If TCS hopes to make a deep run this season, his play at the PG will be huge for them.
Junior Forward Steven Lassiter Steven Lassiter 6'6" | PF The Burlington School | 2023 State NC : He has a chance to have a big time season this year which will only help him recruitment wise. He’s more of a stretch forward at this point but with more development he could transition to a true wing which would only boost his stock.
Junior Guard Malachi Travis Malachi Travis 6'2" | CG New Life Christian | 2023 State NC : He got off to a slower start on the day but as time went on he found his rhythm scoring the ball. The outside shot wasn’t falling early so he attacked the basket and was productive as a slasher, eventually the outside shot began to fall and he found his rhythm as a shooter.
Junior Wing Khristian Thompson: Another player that recently transferred in and will be looked at to make an immediate impact on the squad. He also had a slower start but turned it up as time went on by staying active and competing on the boards on both ends of the floor.
Senior Wing Kyseer Greene: The lone Senior on the team, he made his impact on the day by taking advantage of mismatches and being vocal on the court . His energy can be valuable for the team as long as it’s positive energy and he buys into their role.
Young talent
The class of 2025 talent on this roster is clear and they have a chance to be special before it’s all said and done. They will have roles this season and all showed flashes of what they can potentially be throughout the workout.
Forward Dyjon Carver: He’s a raw talent with good size and length and is definitely a player that will have to put some time in the weight-room and perfect his skillset but he will be one to keep an eye on. He had some moments where he showed what he can be and we are excited about his potential.
Guard Devaughn Brown Devaughn Brown 6'2" | PG Trinity Christian | 2025 State NC : Had the best showing of all the young players, attacking defenders and getting into the paint for buckets. Does a nice job of getting into the paint and making the right plays by using his overall IQ for the game.
Guard Tre Herbert Tre Herbert 6'3" | CG Pine Forest | 2025 State NC : Another young prospect that played some minuets on the varsity squad last year and will look to have a larger role this season. We saw some flashes of what he can potentially be throughout the day and will be keeping a close eye on him.
