There have been some big names coming into the area and who will be playing for a new school this upcoming season. The season will be here before we know it so let’s take a look at some players ready to make an impact for their schools this upcoming season:
2022 Ryan Davis Ryan Davis 6'4" | CG Martin County | 2022 State FL 6’5 – Martin County High School – Ryan can play several positions and is coming off a strong junior season where he was recognized as 6A All State First Team and Treasure Coast Player of the year. Ryan led his team to a 21-1 record and the Tigers are poised again for another big run. Ryan leads a loaded Martin County team and is a player who can hurt the opposing team in different ways. He is a strong finisher at the rim and is consistent behind the three point line. I am excited to see what Ryan and the the Tigers will do this upcoming season as they have put the Treasure Coast on the basketball map.
2022 Roger “Fresh” Walters 5’10 PG/SG – Centennial High School – Roger can flat out get after it with his blazing speed and non-stop motor this dual sport athlete is a lot of fun to watch. He is a fierce competitor and is a handful for the opposing team. Coming off a 12-6 season where he averaged 17 ppg Roger will be looking to finish out his High School career with another great season. This will be a player and team to keep an eye on this upcoming season.
2022 Damon”DJ” Leigh 6’3 PG/SG – Morningside Academy – Coming off a strong junior season leading the South Fork Bulldogs to a 14-5 record and scoring 16 ppg DJ transferred this off season to Morningside Academy who is looking to make a splash amongst the best teams in the area. DJ is a knock down shooter with great court vision and a consistent overall game. DJ goes hard on both ends of the court and will be a huge asset to the Morningside team. Morningside will be a program to keep an eye on this upcoming season.
2024 Elijah “Jah” Duval 6’2 PG/SG Martin County High School – As if Martin County did not already have enough talent enter Elijah Duval into the mix. I have not heard this much buzz about a player in a very long time around the Treasure Coast but this young man who is only 15 years old spent most of the summer playing up in 16u and 17u travel basketball tournaments. Jah as he likes to go by transferred down from Delaware and will be amongst the best players in the class of 2024. He is a dynamic player with next level ball handling and defensive skills. He is nearly unguardable when he wants to get to the rim and is a player who never stops hustling. Already holding a Division 1 offer Jah is ready to take his game up a notch as he has been training nonstop with standout trainer Trevor Duval who by the way is his father. I expect to see several college coaches in attendance to watch this young man this season and if what I have already seen this summer is any indication of what he can do on the court then watch out Treasure Coast.
