Continue ReadingThe list of elite level prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania (and beyond) who have transferred high schools continues to grow as prospects are officially taking the floor at new schools for open gym workouts. Since our last installment of the Transfer Watch 2021 series, it has come to our attention that several more exceptionally talented area prospects have jumped to a different school for the 2021-22 academic year.
Among those highlighted in our fourteenth review of transfers for 2021 is a Top 100 nationally ranked prospect from New York coming to Pennsylvania and another solid prospect headed to Archbishop Wood.
Sherod “Duce” Cannedy – 5’10” / Senior / Archbishop Wood / Point Guard: The defending Philadelphia Catholic League Champs add needed backcourt depth in Cannedy who is a high basketball IQ, throw-back style of lead guard. Cannedy has been known to play a physical brand of guard, bumping, and pushing a defender around to get to his spots or to get his team into their sets. He is a team first distributor, but Cannedy owns a respectable jump shot with range out to the arc. “Sherod makes winning plays.,” Wood Head Coach John Mosco told me. The addition of Cannedy gives Wood’s lineup rotations flexibility and will allow elite point guard Justin Moore Justin Moore 6'1" | CG Archbishop Wood | 2022 State PA to play off the ball at times. In 2020-21 Cannedy played at the now closed Bishop McDevitt (Wyncote, PA).
Ryan Dunn – 6’7” / Post Grad / Perkiomen School / Shooting Guard: Dunn is a long, wiry, and athletic scoring machine whose recruiting stock experienced a historic rise this summer. If you don’t believe us, just search him up on social media. Dunn can shoot the 3-ball from anywhere on the court and under any circumstances. However, he is so much more than just a shooter. Dunn is extremely versatile which means he can score by attacking the rim, in the mid-range or with his back to the basket. With a little work, the jump / flip hook shot he unleashed this summer could become an unstoppable weapon. Lastly, Dunn is a tremendous workhorse on the glass. Dunn previously played at Long Island Lutheran (NY). This past July on the grassroots circuit he balled with the NY Jayhawks. Committed to Virginia.
Dan Mason Dan Mason 6'9" | C Bishop Eustace | 2023 State NJ – 6’9” / Sophomore / Perkiomen School / Power Forward: In 2020-21 Mason was a role player for Bishop Eustace (NJ) who did his damage (4 ppg.) on the interior. This past spring / summer while running with Team Final Black (NJ), Mason received extensive playing time and proved to be a very capable scoring threat from the mid-range to the rim. With his textbook shooting mechanics, quick release and confidence in his stroke, Mason is nearly automatic on elbow jumpers. He can also knock down the baseline J. Mason’s ability to establish position on the blocks combined with his good footwork and a soft touch make him a very efficient scoring threat in the paint.
Dellquan Warren Dellquan Warren 6'2" | PG Keystone Athletic Academy | 2024 #153 Nation PA – 6’1” / Sophomore / Keystone Academy / Point Guard: A super athletic guard who can score off the dribble drive with either hand, Warren played for Spire Institute & Academy (OH) last winter. This lefty backcourt prospect is a highly efficient 3-point shooter with a quick trigger. Like most elite lead guards, Warren owns excellent instincts for the game and is more than willing to distribute the rock to an open teammate. As a bonus to all these offensive abilities, he is a tenacious on-ball defender. Warren holds numerous DI offers including one from Maryland.
