Continue ReadingThe list of elite level prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania (and beyond) have transferred high schools continues to grow as prospects officially attend classes at a new school. Since our last installment of the Transfer Watch 2021 series, several more exceptionally talented area prospects have jumped to a different school for the 2021-22 academic year.
Among those highlighted in our thirteenth review of transfers for 2021 is an elite prospect from Ohio coming to Pennsylvania and two high level transfers who picked Philadelphia Catholic League programs.
Hadir Boswell – 6’4” / Senior / Math, Civics & Sciences / Small Forward: A transfer from Monsignor Bonner & Prendie, Hadir is a traditional power forward who was a valuable interior reserve for the Friars last season. Boswell (4 pts & 3 rebs per game in 2020-21) is a physical presence who can absorb contact and finish around the cup. He excels with his back to the basket, but Boswell will not hesitate to put the ball on the floor and back down / muscle his way past a defender. On the grassroots circuit this past summer Boswell displayed improved touch in the mid-range as well as the ability to pass the rock out of the high post. He will be beast on the glass at both ends of the floor for MCS. This is an interesting pickup for the Mighty Elephants.
Priest Ryan – 6’6” / Junior / Perkiomen School / Wing: In 2019-20 Ryan won a WPIAL Championship at Vincentian Academy (Pittsburgh, PA) and averaged 15 ppg. After Vincentian Academy closed its doors, Ryan moved on to Richmond Heights in suburban Cleveland, Ohio. His lone season at Richmond Heights was highlighted by a 29-point performance in a win over Dalton (OH) and a trip to the Division 4 state Final 4. Ryan is a tough, physical kid with a versatile skillset and a high basketball IQ. He can do a number of different things offensively. Ryan can post up, beat guys off the bounce and make shots from the perimeter. He is also able to use the dribble drive to create scoring opportunities for his teammates. At the other end of the floor, he can guard multiple positions and with his length Ryan can rebound the ball effectively.
Shemar Wilbanks-Acqui Shemar Wilbanks-Acqui 6'0" | CG West Catholic | 2023 State PA – 6’2” / Junior / West Catholic / Combo Guard: If you witnessed Wilbank-Acqui play last winter for Sankofa Freedom AC or this summer at the Philly HS live event, then you know this lefty backcourt prospect’s ability to wreck a defense with the dribble drive is second to none. Once Wilbank-Acqui has penetrated the paint and drawn the weak side help, he is very creative at distributing the rock to the open teammate. However, if the defensive slide is late, Wilbank-Acqui will not hesitate to lay the ball in. He has flashed the ability to hit from behind the arc. If he further develops his three-point shooting, Wilbank-Acqui could become a DI prospect. In 2020-21 he averaged 11 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for Sankofa. On the grassroots circuit Wilbank-Acqui plays for K-Low Elite.
Kyree Womack Kyree Womack 6'1" | PG Bonner-Prendergast | 2024 State PA – 5’8” / Sophomore / Roman Catholic / Combo Guard: A three-point assassin with a nice floater game is a rare combination, but that is the type of prospect college coaches will get in this 2024 combo guard. Womack is also a patient player who will use the dribble to probe defenses until a high percentage scoring chance presents itself for him or a teammate. When he is out in transition, Womack can use the same handles to navigate his way to the rim for a bucket. Last season as a freshman at Chester HS (PA) Womack (5 ppg.) received significant minutes. In fact, during the PIAA 5A Quarterfinal game he knocked down three consecutive FTs with just seconds remaining to send the contest to overtime (Chester eventually won). This summer at Philly HS Live (Session I) Womack posted 21 points and 8 boards vs. Parkland HS (PA).
