Damani Barley Damani Barley 6'5" | PG Rochester East | 2023 State #158 Nation NY , 6’5″ PG, East High 2023 – Barley showed why he is the front runner for Section V Player of the Year. He runs the pick and roll to perfection, scoring or finding the open man every chance he gets and is a knockdown shooter when left open. Currently holding offers from Sienna, Bryant, Canisius, and Albany.
James Mathews James Mathews 6'2" | PG University Prep | 2023 NY , 6’2″ PG, Uprep 2022 – Quick first step allowed Mathews to get to the basket at will, finishing with various dunks and layups. May have been the best on-ball defender on-site, giving every guard he matched up with nightmares. A quiet prospect who can get it done both offensively and defensively.
Mykel White, 6’3″ PG, Aquinas 2023 – Very high IQ guard who understands the game at an elite level. White refuses to turn the ball over, and he can make every pass on the floor. Mykel understands how to lead and gets the ball to the right guy in the right spot at all times. He showed he’s been developing his outside shot as well, knocking down open shots off the catch.
Marcqell Freeman, 5’8″ PG, Edison Tech 2024 – Sophomore guard showed added weight and muscle, allowing him to take full advantage of his tremendous ability to handle the ball. Freeman gets to any spot on the floor and finishes smoothly around the rim. He might have been the best shooter I watched; off the dribble and catch and shoot, he was a pure sniper when given any room.
Ryan Heath Ryan Heath 6'0" | PG Irondequoit | 2023 State NY , 6’0″ PG, West Irondequoit 2023 – Heath stepped right into his new role as the primary option this summer. Every team game-planned against him, but he showed why he is considered possibly the best scorer in the area. No matter who he matched up with, he found a way to get a bucket. Excellent ball-handler with a smooth mid-range game, allowing him to draw a lot of help defenders. From there, Heath consistently found the open guy for easy baskets. Keep your eyes open for Heath this season, as he will be a household name for the area.
