That also indicates we are inching closer to high school basketball in the region. Tryouts and subsequent practices will be here before you know it. After that, preseason tournaments and games will follow. It’s an exciting time to be a fan across all sports.
Let’s look into some notes…
2023 Marvel Allen Marvel Allen 6'4" | SG Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian | 2023 State #46 Nation FL earned an offer from Ohio State on Wednesday. The 6-foot-4 combo guard also took an official visit to Georgia. The 5-star prospect has racked up offers in recent months. Allen showcased his size and athleticism with E1T1 this summer. He’s making a strong claim as one of the best players in America. Allen has hinted he will release a top 10 school list soon. His Calvary Christian teammate, 2023 Carl Cherenfant Carl Cherenfant 6'4" | CG Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian | 2023 State #68 Nation FL , has an unofficial with Florida scheduled for September 18th. Cherenfant has looked fantastic since helping the Eagles to a 3A state title last March.
2022 Gregg Glenn Gregg Glenn 6'7" | PF Calvary Christian (FL) | 2022 State #161 Nation FL has indicated he will be making his college decision soon. The 4-star forward is reportedly down to Michigan, Iona, Virginia Tech, South Florida and Georgia. The 6-foot-7 Glenn has improved his handle and ability to attack the rim over the summer. His recruitment has been one of the more interesting to follow. Are the Wolverines the favorite? We will all soon find out.
2024 wing Marcus Allen Marcus Allen 6'4" | SF West Orange | 2021 State FL earned his second power-five offer from the University of Miami. ACC rival Florida State and Florida Gulf Coast represent his other suitors. Allen’s potential is very high given his size (6’6) and athleticism. I’m a bit surprised more programs haven’t reached out. His upside appears quite high for a sophomore. Two more years of work on the floor points to a high ceiling.
2025 Cayden Boozer also earned an offer from the Canes. The 6-foot-4 guard impressed this summer playing for Nightrydas Elite. Boozer is an aggressive scorer with ball skill at a young age. Along with his brother, Cameron Boozer, he’s a must watch for Miami Columbus. The Explorers will be one of the best high school tickets in town. Their father, Carlos Boozer, was a star at Duke and went on to play in the NBA for 12 seasons.
2022 Justin Abson Justin Abson 6'9" | PF North Broward Prep | 2022 State #230 Nation FL took an official visit to Appalachian State. The 6-foot-9 forward is one of the best two-way prospects in the region. I especially like his work on the defensive side of the floor. Many schools have offered the North Broward Prep star.
