Guards
SG Colby Dolphin Colby Dolphin 5'10" | PG Kennedy | 2023 State IA (Kennedy)
A smart and tough off-ball guard, Dolphin is a versatile two-way threat who can get to the rim for buckets through contact, pull up from 3, and defend multiple spots on the perimeter. He’s the type of player who is going to dive onto the floor for loose balls and make all the right plays – he’s a winning player.
PG William Kiburis William Kiburis 6'4" | PG Gladbrook-Reinbeck | 2023 State IA (Gladbrook-Reinbeck)
Kiburis is a high IQ player who stuffs the stat sheet for the Rebels. He has good size and length at 6-3 and can play both on-and-off the ball. We’re looking to see how he deals with on-ball defensive pressure from the slew of athletic guards that will be in this event.
PG Tate Petersen Tate Petersen 6'1" | PG Monticello | 2023 State IA (Monticello)
Petersen is a competitor on both ends of the floor. He really impressed back in May when he defended high-scoring wing Elijah Vos Elijah Vos 6'4" | SF Hoover | 2023 State IA during the Kings of the Court tournament. Despite giving up a significant amount of size, Petersen battled with Vos and made his life difficult. He has become a much more confident ball-handler, and he’s one of the best shooters in the state.
SG Da’shon Fisher Da’shon Fisher 6'1" | SG Liberty | 2023 State IA (Liberty)
An athletic 6-0 off-ball guard, Fisher is loaded with potential on the defensive end of the floor with his length and lateral quickness. In the halfcourt he can get by his defender and get to the rim for finishes through contact, and he’s working to improve his jumper.
PG Nathaniel Winter Nathaniel Winter 6'4" | PG Boone | 2023 State IA (Boone)
Winter was a player that we hadn’t seen before the Winterset Shootout in June, but he was impressive. A long lead guard at 6-3/6-4, he has excellent size for the position, and he uses it to his advantage on the defensive end, getting into passing lanes and contesting shots. He handles it well and has a solid jumper.
PG Casey Gardner Casey Gardner 5'8" | PG Dunkerton | 2023 State IA (Dunkerton)
Gardner ranked among the state leaders in assists last winter, and it’s easy to see why. He constantly looks to get others involved and sees the floor extremely well. He’s a good ball-handler and a capable 3-point shooter who plays well in the pick-and-roll.
SG Garrett Hempen Garrett Hempen 5'10" | PG Aplington-Parkersburg | 2023 State IA (Aplington-Parkersburg)
Hempen is a really solid all-around offensive threat who can play either guard spot effectively. He’s a good ball-handler and decision-maker, and he’s a much better shooter than his 34.2% from 3 last year suggests. He has good form and extended range on his jumper and should be one of the better shooting threats in Ankeny in a few weeks.
