In addition, we have received input from Assistant Coaches, Athletic Directors, and our network of scouts. The results will be featured over six weeks. We continue this week with the top WPIAL players in Class 2A. Class 2A consists of 24 Teams, divided into 4 sections. Out of the nearly 300 (2A) players, here are our “Fantastic Five.”
Jake DiMichele Jake DiMichele 6'3" | CG OLSH | 2022 State PA I 6-3 I OLSH I @DimicheleJake
Jake led the OLSH Chargers to a 24-0 season and their first State Championship in school history. He was named Class 2A First-Team All-State by the Pennsylvania Sports Writers Association. He was also named the Class 2A Player of the year. Jake averaged 29.1 points and 8.2 rebounds last season. He enters his senior campaign with over 1,800 points. Jake is clearly the top player this year in 2A, and one of the best players in the WPIAL, regardless of classification.
Brevan Williams I 6-4 I Greensburg Central Catholic I @bw2willZZ
As a junior last season, Brevan averaged 20.4 points and was named the “Westmoreland County Player of the Year.” He also picked up Class 2A Third-Team All-State honors. He has a nice jump shot, can get to the rim, and runs the floor extremely well. He has very impressive instincts, leading to an uncanny knack for multiple “put-backs” from the offensive glass. After an impressive summer playing with Team Wildcat, Brevan is poised for another monster season.
Jackson Juzang I 5-11 I Winchester Thurston I @JMJ91003
Jackson did it all for the Bears, as a Junior last season. He poured in 30.9 points, pulled in 10.3 rebounds, and dished 5.7 assists per contest. As a result, he was named Class 2A First-Team All-State. With the combination of his excellent handle and quick release, he is a scoring machine. At only 5’11″ he is an elite rebounder, using his outstanding athleticism, positioning, and timing. Jackson quite possibly had the most “coast-to-coast” baskets in the WPIAL last season.
Chris Barrish Chris Barrish 5'7" | PG Carmichaels | 2022 State PA I 5-9 I Carmichaels I @c_barrish3
Chris is an outstanding shooter with good range. Can “spot up,” or uses his excellent footwork to create his own separation against defenders. He averaged a very impressive 19.3 points per game for Charmichaels, as a Junior last season. He was named the “Greene County Player of the Year.”
Jackson LaRocka Jackson LaRocka 6'1" | CG Burgettstown | 2022 State PA I 5-11 I Burgettstown I @LaRocka33
Jackson had an outstanding Junior campaign, leading Burgettstown with 17.6 points per game. He is a well-rounded player with a good handle. This allows him to create opportunities for himself and his teammates. He finishes strong at the hoop and can consistently knock down open shots beyond the arc. Jackson is equally valuable at the other end as a lock-down defender.
