Rayvon Griffith Rayvon Griffith 6'6" | SF AZ Compass Prep | 2023 State #78 Nation AZ , 6’5 SF Taft 2023: Griffith has been the Ohio player nominated for the most national praise in his class. Being invited to select camps out west and excelling has shown how talented the wing from Cincinnati is. Griffith is a very explosive athlete with springs in his feet. Most times when I watch him play he has a couple dunks in each game. I was impressed with his development as a leader for Taft last season as a Sophomore. Leading his team to the final four without Mekhi Elmore Mekhi Elmore 6'1" | PG Thurgood Marshallchooligh | 2022 State OH was very impressive. I haven’t seen as much Griffith as I’ve wanted to due to COVID, but I’ll be making watching Taft a priority this season.
Dailyn Swain Dailyn Swain 6'7" | SF Africentric | 2023 State #81 Nation OH , 6’6 SF Africentric 2023: Swain is one of the most naturally talented players in Ohio. The lanky wing has all the skills that high major coaches droll about when looking at a wing prospect. I’ve been high on Swain for a long time and thought he was a high major prospect before any colleges at that level were offering the 6’6 wing out of Columbus. Swain has always been a quiet kid on the court, and is starting to learn how to become a leader and be more consistent with his vocal presence on the court. Swain had an excellent EYBL session in July, showing the top coaches in the country what he’s capable of.
Devin Royal Devin Royal 6'6" | PF Pickerington Central | 2023 State #49 Nation OH , 6’6 SF Pickerington Central 2023: Royal BLEW UP at the Peach Jam, earning himself high major offers in the process. Royal has always been one of my favorite players in his class, but his offensive development even surprised myself. Royal is a dog on the court, always giving 100% effort and he’s the guy who wants the ball in his hands at the end of a game. I think Royal could be a leader in the locker room the moment he steps on campus with his attitude and work ethic. I’ll be interested to see what type of scoring load Royal can provide for Pickerington Central this season. He’s really come a long way from where he was 12 months ago, and that can be attributed to his great work ethic. There was a time where he was carrying a lot of weight, but he is now more explosive and hasn’t lost his strength in the process. Notice how many more dunks and explosive finishes you see out of him now compared to a year ago. Time in the weight room pays off. Watch out for Royal and the Tigers this winter.
Sonny Styles Sonny Styles 6'4" | SF Pickerington Central | 2023 OH , 6’4 SF Pickerington Central 2023: Styles is likely going to be playing football in college, but until he makes that decision final, I’ll evaluate him like a true basketball prospect. Styles is probably the best athlete in his class on the basketball court. He soars for crazy blocks and rebounds that show how much of a dominating force he is on the gridiron. Styles is very aggressive attacking the basket and plays with more control that you’d expect from a football first prospect. If Styles did develop a more reliable jumper, he would be impossible to guard at the high school level. Styles is a great athlete who should have tons of success at the college level with whatever sport he chooses to pursue.
Seck Zongo Seck Zongo 6'6" | SF Patrick | 2023 State NJ , 6’6 SF 2023: Zongo is a prospect I need to see more of this season. He really popped at different high school events over the summer playing with Kenny Satterfield Jr Kenny Satterfield Jr 6'2" | PG Patrick School | 2023 State #242 Nation NJ . I think Zongo is a good athlete who showed off some impressive scoring volume on the interior. He moves fluidly for a forward that can play either the 3 or the 4 at the next level. I need to see more of Zongo before I get a full evaluation, but he’s certainly one of the top wings in Ohio if he chooses to stay in the Buckeye state for high school basketball.
