Nathan Dudukovich Nathan Dudukovich 6'2" | SG Lakota West | 2023 State OH , 6’3 SG Lakota West 2023: One of the best shooters in the state regardless of class, Dukukovich is an absolute sniper. More than just a shooter, but his upside starts and ends with his special shooting ability. I was impressed with Dudukovich’s ability to get his shot off against high level athletes for Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB. There are plenty of shooters that don’t get enough shots up because of their athletic limitations, I don’t find that the case for Dudukovich. He’s also coming off a huge sophomore year in the GMC, scoring 19.8 PPG. In my opinion, Dudukovich is a Division I level prospect.
CJ Hornbeak CJ Hornbeak 6'2" | SG Toledo St. John's | 2023 State OH , 6’2 SG Toledo St John’s 2023: Hornbeak is a defensive minded prospect who always brings A+ effort when he steps on the floor. A versatile defender, Hornbeak is a plus defender at both guard positions. Hornbeak did shoot the ball at a decent clip over the summer as well, improving as a scorer. At his size, I do think he’s almost strictly a SG and not a PG, it might make sense to pair him with a jumbo creator at the next level. Hornbeak does have two more years of HS to prove to myself and college coaches if he can play the PG position. It might open up more scholarship opportunities and make it easier to fit him in line-ups at the next level.
Logan Beaston Logan Beaston 6'4" | SG Tiffin Columbian | 2023 State OH , 6’4 SG Tiffin Columbian 2023: If there was a 3-point contest, Beaston would be my pick to win in the 2023 class. An absolutely insane shooter, Beaston has in the gym range. I’ve seen him make seven or eight 3’s in a single half, it’s really exciting watching Beaston get hot. Beaston is however pretty limited off the bounce right now. He doesn’t create a ton of separation and does sometimes get beat defensively. Beaston will be recruited for his special shooting ability, and that’s an invaluable skill in today’s game of basketball. Beaston should be living in the weight room to try and make quickness and strength improvements before he walks onto a college campus.
Jack Kronauge Jack Kronauge 6'1" | SG St Xavier | 2023 State OH , 6’2 SG Lakota East 2023: Kronauge was a teammate to Dudukovich on Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB 16U this summer. Kronauge is a SG who is solid at a lot of skills but missing a special skill that pushes him over the top. Kronauge is a good shooter, but a tier below the Dudukovich or Beaston types. He does get to the rim and isn’t a bad athlete, but isn’t jumping out of the gym. I also think Kronauge is a solid decision maker with the basketball from the SG position, but I don’t really see an avenue to him becoming a PG at the college level. This analysis might sound harsh, but I am a fan of Kronauge, and expect him to have a big Junior season for Clint Adkins at Lakota East. If he continues to buy into the program, I have little doubt he will constantly improve as a player.
Joey Zalewski Joey Zalewski 6'3" | SF Thomas Worthington | 2023 State OH , 6’2 SG Thomas Worthington 2023: Zalewski is a pretty unique prospect, going beyond the box score to impact the game whenever I watch him play. For Thomas Worthington, Zalewski has played next to Jalen Sullinger Jalen Sullinger 5'11" | PG Thomas Worthington | 2021 State OH and Tyrese Hughey Tyrese Hughey 6'7" | PF Thomas Worthington | 2021 State OH , but now could be expected to lead them in scoring as a Junior. Zalewski also plays a complimentary offensive role for Nova-Schmitz, as that team is very balanced offensively. Zalewski is a very good athlete, making impact defensive plays fairly often for a guard. I think he’s a plus defender and I’m very intrigued to see how he handles an increased offensive workload.
