Continue ReadingESPN National Analyst and former division one coach Paul Biancardi came to Richmond to host a college style practice at Randolph-Macon featuring 85 boys and girls in high school. The camp featured a number of former collegiate and current high school coaches that put the campers through a set of developmental drills, a 3-on-3 tournament and let them get up and down at the end before Biancardi and a number of other coaches gave advice on preparing for college.
Here’s a look at part two of some of the many standouts at the event.
Davin Cosby | 6’4” WG | Benedictine ’23
Cosby has recently announced he transferred back to Benedictine and reclassified to the 2023 class, which should make him highly sought after since he blew up over the summer and picked up multiple division one offers. The 6’4” wing showed a good motor and willingness to improve during the drills sessions, he’s improved as an athlete and in his ability to create off the bounce and he’s absolutely one of the best shooters in the state.
Curtis Blair III Curtis Blair III 6'6" | SF Steward School | 2023 State #211 Nation VA | 6’6” WF | Steward School ’23
Blair was injured for much of last year and struggled somewhat coming back from it at times this summer but he looked healthy and back to his usual self at the camp on Saturday. At his size Blair has tremendous ball skills as he looked great in the ball screen settings as he showed he can get to spots and make pull-ups at a consistent rate in a number of different ways, he rebounded well in the open runs and his versatility makes him a matchup nightmare.
Owen Gray Owen Gray 6'10" | C Steward | 2024 State VA | 6’8” C | Steward School ’23
Gray looks like he may be a breakout player in the Prep League this year and his motor and athleticism really stood out at the camp on Saturday. He showed improved touch in the shooting drills, he showed good mobility and the ability to get up and down the floor in the open runs and when he’s in the paint he’s always a threat to dunk the basketball.
Luke Smith Luke Smith 6'9" | C Collegiate | 2023 State VA | 6’8” PF | Collegiate School ’23
Smith is coming off of a good season and summer with DC Premier and showed a good work ethic and skill set throughout the camp for his size. Smith is a perimeter oriented big that can step out and stretch the floor and is a good passer on the perimeter as well, but he also has the ability to post up and score in the paint and was very good during the ball handling drills as well.
Brandon Croslin | 6’4” WG | Bethel ’23
Croslin is a name to know in the 757 area as he showed at the camp he’s well rounded, works hard and is multi faceted on both ends of the floor. He showed that he’s a knock down shooter with deep range and good footwork during the drills section, he can play in the pick-and-roll and handle with both hands and he played with a good motor both in drills and in the live game portion.
Jake Williams Jake Williams 6'4" | SG Sidwell Friends | 2024 State MD | 6’4” WF | Bishop O’Connell ’24
Williams is part of a talented O’Connell 2024 group and he was very good both during the drills and when they got up and down. He’s a hard worker who soaked up all the info he could and gave great effort during the drills, he’s a knock down shooter with good size and deep range yet he doesn’t settle and can put it on the deck and finish in the paint as well.
