Continue ReadingThe 2021 season starts officially with practice in 4 weeks and as we creep towards October 15th, we’ll take some time to spotlight a few players who could be difference makers for their squads this season. Here’s a look at some 2023s who could make a splash this season.
Nolan Hunter Nolan Hunter 6'5" | PF Scott | 2023 State KY , Scott – A 2 sport star that has seen some recruiting on the football field already, Hunter is an explosive power forward who is athletic enough to get out of area rebounds and finish above the rim on offense. Nolan is probably going to play football at the next level but he’s good enough at basketball to see some small school offers come his way on the court too.
Marcus Eaves Marcus Eaves 6'4" | SF North Hopkins | 2023 State KY , Hopkins County Central – If Eaves played at a bigger program or closer to central Kentucky, his 17 point and 7 rebounds per game as a Sophomore would have gotten him more attention than he had last year. Heading into his Junior season, Marcus could average 20 and 10 and be among the best prospects in the 2nd region this season.
Aydan Hamilton Aydan Hamilton 6'5" | SG Campbell County | 2023 State KY , Campbell County – Hamilton committed to Kentucky for baseball already but is a top player in the region and will be hard to guard yet again this season. A 6’5 wing, Aydan is a good shooter and can also get to the rim. He’s a matchup problem for every 10th region foe and should help Campbell challenge for the regional title.
Gerard Thomas Gerard Thomas 6'2" | PG Henderson County | 2023 State KY , Henderson County – Coach Smithart has a good one with Thomas. A bully guard who can play on or off the ball, Gerard reminds me of Isaiah Briscoe in the way he plays and how he can lock up on defense when he wants to. The second region will be highly competitive in 2022 and Thomas could be a first team all region player.
Ethan Cooper Ethan Cooper 6'3" | CG Garrard County | 2023 State KY , Garrard County – The Lions leading scorer and rebounder a season ago, Cooper should be a top player in the 12th region this season. If Ethan can improve his overall shooting efficiency, he should average 20-22 points per game as a Junior and start drawing attention from in state colleges.
