Christian Winn | 2023 | Lincoln Northeast | 6’2 G
Winn is a very well put together guard in the class of 2023. He was handling some pressure very well towards the end of the game. He’s got a very smooth jumper from beyond the arc or a off dribble midrange. He also showed off some very athletic finishes at the rim and proved to be a scoring threat for Northeast this upcoming winter.
Trey Moseman Trey Moseman 6'0" | SG Platteview | 2023 State NE | 2023 | Millard South | 6’0 G
Moseman was another all around guard I got to watch on Saturday. He handles the ball well at the one position and ran the pace for Millard South’s attack. He takes a nice selection of shots, didn’t force much, and finishes with ease at the rim with very soft touch. He ran the floor well in transition for some easy fast break layups.
Ben Hunzeker Ben Hunzeker 6'3" | SG Lincoln Southwest | 2022 State NE | 2022 | Lincoln Southwest | 6’3 G
Hunzeker is the definition of a glue guy. From a scoring standpoint, his frame allows him to take on smaller guards inside but also execute finishes against bigs. He doesn’t waste time trying to take his man off the dribble, he makes one move and gets by. Hunzekers defense was what stood out to me especially. He’s got very active hands on defense and is not afraid to jump the ball. He was getting deflections and steals all Saturday. He defends bigs very well and was very aggressive with his rebounding.
Reggie Thomas Reggie Thomas 6'0" | SG Omaha Westside | 2022 State NE | 2022 | Westside | 6’1 G
With a very athletic 6’1 build, what I highlight primarily from Thomas’ game was his finishing. He’s a lot bigger than other guards so he is able to quickly blow by them elevate at the rim to finish above the help side defense. Thomas has a very quick step and gets by his defenders with just one move. Another highlight of his game is his defense. He was picking up full court and staying in front of whoever he was guarding. He’s extremely quick laterally and was forcing pickups and getting steals.
Rylan Smith Rylan Smith 6'1" | PG Lincoln Southwest | 2023 State NE | 2023 | Lincoln Southwest | 6’2 G
I would consider Rylan Smith Rylan Smith 6'1" | PG Lincoln Southwest | 2023 State NE another glue guy for this Lincoln Southwest squad. Smith demonstrated how to be a true floor general on Saturday. He was directing traffic and conducting the offense very well for Southwest on Saturday. His jumper is very smooth and he can shoot the rock, and from very deep, but he also knows when to give it up. He delivers his passes on a dime, whether on the drive and kick or feeding a post down low. Vocal leader on defense as well, calling out screens, letting teammates know he’s got help, or just calling out shot.
