Continue ReadingOn Tuesday, we updated our ND 2022 Prospect Rankings. I want to take one more look at the players from those rankings. I thought it would be fun to use my imagination and create a “Dream Team” with players from the 2022 class. We need a nice “fit” with size, shooters, ball handlers, rebounders, and defenders. Read below for more info on the players and team…
PERFECT TEAM
STARTING 5
PG- Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND 6’1 Beulah/Pentagon Schoolers
His role would be to run the show and manage the game. Trey would also provide a nice scoring option. At the end of the game, you would want the ball in Brandt’s hands.
SG- Treysen Eaglestaff Treysen Eaglestaff 6'5" | SF Bismark | 2022 State ND 6’5 Bismarck/D1 Minnesota
The best and most consistent shooter in ND. Trey can go wild in the scoring column. If he plays the #2, Trey would score at will against the average guard. He can score, but Trey can also handle the rock and dish out dimes.
SG- Michael Nhial Michael Nhial 6'7" | SF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2022 State ND 6’7 West Fargo Sheyenne/Team Sizzle
His high level of athleticism would fit perfectly with these guys. Nhial is a walking mismatch. He is too big for most people and more athletic compared to others his size. Nhial could be a game-changer with his big-play ability.
F- Gus Hurlburt Gus Hurlburt 6'9" | PF Enderlin | 2022 State ND 6’9 Enderlin/D1 Minnesota
With this crazy talented group, Gus could play inside or out. He is a scary matchup for any team considering to play man defense straight up. Hurlburt could play bully-ball and post-up guards or stretch the court and hit trips.
F- Joe Hurlburt Joe Hurlburt 6'10" | PF Enderlin | 2022 State #147 Nation MN 6’11 Enderlin/D1 Minnesota
Super excited to see his growth. Almost nobody can match up with Hurlburt. Joe is skilled like a backcourt player and he has the foundation of a dominant inside man. He would be the engine that would drive this team. Over the past two summers, Joe has proven that he can play with the best in the country.
RESERVES
CG- Ian Motschenbacher Ian Motschenbacher 6'1" | PG Fargo Davies | 2022 State ND 6’1 Fargo Davies/ECI
He could run the show as the PG or be a playmaker on the wing. Ian would show off his playmaking and finishing ability against anyone. Motschenbacher would be a combination of facilitator and scorer.
SG- Jayden Yankton Jayden Yankton 6'1" | SG Four Winds/Minnewaukan | 2022 State ND 6’1 Four Winds Minnewaukan
He would be the best 3-point threat on this team. Yankton would draw attention and stretch the defense. His understanding of the game and athleticism would allow him to get open for good looks.
SG- Eric Wentz Eric Wentz 6'2" | SG Minot | 2022 State ND 6’2 Minot/ECI
He would be a leader and one of the best perimeter defenders on this squad. Wentz would give a good scoring surge, but the little things that he does would be just as valuable.
SF- Paul Olson Paul Olson 6'3" | SF Kindred | 2022 State ND 6’3 Kindred/ECI
He would be the highlight player of this group. Olson thrives on dunks and lob alley-oops. Paul can also be a tough and reliable defender on the wing and in the paint. He is no stranger to rising to the occasion and making the right play at the right time.
F- Nick Carlson Nick Carlson 6'4" | SF West Fargo | 2022 State ND 6’4 West Fargo/ECI
Mr. Versatile would be the game-changer for this squad. Nick has the ability to play the wing or forward position. His size, NRG, and feel for the game would allow him to be a playmaker. Carlson would also be a big plus on the boards and defensive side of the ball.
NOTES
Some of these guys played in the TOP 40 tournament in Vegas and they showed that they can compete with the best. If if you look at the size of this potential starting lineup they would be bigger than every college squad in the state. This group of potential players would compete with the best in the nation. They have size, athletes, skill, defense, and shooters. All of these guys will have a huge season in the upcoming year.
