A good hybrid has enough size to guard all positions on the court. With the capability to also play all positions on offense and handle the ball. A great hybrid can make the right play with a great pass or score at will. NBA Hybrids that come to mind to me were players like Kevin Garnett, Darius Miles, and Lamar Odom.
The first hooper that really stood out to me for that player type was Cailen Shadrick. 6’2’’ AKA”Big Saucey” Cailen has played for me before in another showcase. Saucey can score at all levels and finishes well. He handles the ball extremely well and gets everyone involved on offense. If he isn’t finishing strong, he’s usually dropping a dime to an open player. Shoots the three ball with confidence and well. Shadrick isn’t afraid to get dirty inside on defense and is a great rim protector. Plays his club ball for Ez Work Elite 2025 and attends Davenport West. A class of 2025 prospect that works hard on and off the court.
Toby Berggren Toby Berggren 6'7" | C Bondurant-Farrar | 2022 IA plays his school ball at Bondurant Farrar High School class of 2022. Plays his club ball for All Iowa Attack. A 6’7″ wing with great touch around the rim. Toby and his teammates will defiently go deep in the playoffs this year with all the talent they have this year. I’m calling a Pella or Bondurant state championship possibility for sure. His shooting ability makes him tough to defend. A great stretch player that runs the floor hard as well. Great shot blocker on the help side.
The next hybrid that really caught my eye cause he kept trying to catch bodies was Kareem Earl Kareem Earl 6'5" | SF Iowa City West | 2024 State IA . Class of 2024 6’4’’ Iowa City West Forward. Earl’s father Acie is an Iowa Legend. Coach and trainer in Iowa City so no wonder his son has his height and can ball. A couple times Kareem took it hard to the rack and almost got some posters. He runs the court well. Can score from all levels well and defends the rim well. Plays his club ball for Iowa Barnstormers. Still a ton of room to grow if he catches up to dad.
The last hybrid I will spotlight is Brooks Moore Brooks Moore 6'5" | SF Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont | 2024 State IA from Eddyville. Brooks can absolutely jump out of the gym. Brooks attacks all the angles on the court well, plays great defense which usually turns into a slam on the other end. Attacks the glass hard for put back dunks and rebounds well. Class of 2024 stretch forward who also shoots the three ball pretty well. Eddyville with the help of brooks and the other amazing talent from the 2024 class will make deep playoff runs in the years to come for sure. Plays his club ball at Beyond Ball.
