So with two months before the official start date of the high school season, we take an in-depth look at some of the top performers on the hardwood this Fall. Let’s move forward with the Sophomore Class First Team Selections…
Starters:
Robert Cain Robert Cain 6'3" | SG Kiski School | 2024 State PA / 6’3 wing forward / Kiski School
This small forward utilizes his size and strength on the wing to score on penetration, from mid-range, and on the offensive glass. He has the ability to create opportunities for himself as well as his teammates throughout a game. Robert has interest from a variety of Division 1, Division 2, and NAIA college coaches moving forward in his sophomore season.
Royce Parham Royce Parham 6'8" | PF Western Reserve Academy | 2024 State #53 Nation OH / 6’7 power forward / North Hills High School
A young, developing big man who has a bright future due to his work ethic and dedication to the game of basketball. He is an above-average shot blocker on the defensive end of the floor while being a force in the post during offensive sets. Royce has a Division 1 offer from Robert Morris University and by the time he is a senior will have many more offers on the table.
Brandin Cummings Brandin Cummings 6'3" | SG Lincoln Park | 2024 State #132 Nation PA / 6’3 combo guard / Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School
An athletic combo guard that brings the energy on both ends of the court each night for his team. Despite being a sophomore, he has the skillset to make him a serious match-up problem for his opponents with consistent scoring from the perimeter. Brandin picked up three Division 1 offers and there definitely will be more on the horizon before his high school career comes to an end.
Bez Abdul Bez Abdul 6'0" | CG Imani Christian Academy | 2024 State PA / 6’0 point guard / Imani Christian Christian Academy
He can score in a multitude of ways and from a variety of spots throughout a game. An improving guard that looks to make the right decision as the floor general in the half-court offense or in transition. Bez has the opportunity to develop a good list of college recruiters at Division 3 and NAIA levels within the next few years of his basketball career.
Eli Teslovich Eli Teslovich 6'1" | CG Shady Side Academy | 2024 State PA / 6’0 combo guard / Shady Side Academy
A skilled ball handler who makes his teammates better and has excellent court vision during half-court offense or on the fast break. This young man can score in a variety of ways and always likes the ball in his hand at key moments. Eli’s recruitment will escalate once his solid performances continue this high school season on the hardwood.
6th Man: Joseph Roth Joseph Roth 6'4" | PF Ellwood City | 2024 State PA / 6’4 power forward / Ellwood City High School
His size and ability in the post make him a promising forward in the making as he continues to develop his game. At times this youngster will step out on the perimeter and “knockdown” jump shots with precision but still rebounds at a high level on the offensive glass for putbacks. Joseph is a talented sophomore who has gained the attention of college coaches.
