The invite only event was packed with elite, ranked, and soon to be ranked players. There was high level basketball all over the gym, so I will give you 5 players that stood out to me.
* There was such a vast amount of quality basketball last night, that I’m making it my mission to cover every single player at the event. If you don’t see your name here, no worries, it’s just a matter of time.
Read our additional coverage of Flight Hankamp below:
Kendall Bentley Kendall Bentley 6'2" | SG River Rouge | 2024 State MI
Bentley is going to cause a lot of problems for opponents this high school season and he showed that at Flight Hankamp. He’s a smooth athlete that worked both downhill and laterally when looking for an opening. Bentley showed that he can score from multiple spots on the floor.
Charlie Deutsch Charlie Deutsch 6'4" | SG Rockford | 2023 State MI
Deutsch has always carried the reputation as a shooter, but his game has expanded so much in the last year or so. He carries college ready strength and physique already, and in all honesty, he’s going to get much stronger and quicker as he works toward college basketball. Deutsch flashed some much improved ball handling skills last night.
Tyler Jamison Tyler Jamison 6'4" | SF Port Huron Northern | 2023 State MI
Jamison was impressive at Flight Hankamp, and that’s to say the least. He’s solid with the ball in his hands and picks and prods, looking for an opening in the defense. When Jamison found a crease, he put the ball on the ground aggressively and attacked the rim. Jamison proved last night that he should be considered a top notch prospect in the state.
Dontez Scott Dontez Scott 6'0" | PG Summit Academy North | 2024 State MI
We owe Dontez Scott Dontez Scott 6'0" | PG Summit Academy North | 2024 State MI an apology, because he isn’t ranked nearly high enough. This kid is a menace for his opponents to handle. He had another level of quickness, both with and without the ball. Scott was very comfortable playing a fast paced game and he was outstanding at getting the ball into the open floor.
Tyler VanEtten
VanEtten seems to have a natural understanding of the ebbs and flows of the game. He showed a high basketball IQ last night, making smart play after smart play. VanEtten always seemed to be around the ball and having an influence on the play almost every single posession.
