2024 DAKOTAS All Expo Team
FIRST TEAM ALL EXPO
JT Rock JT Rock 7'1" | C Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2024 #37 Nation SD |7-0 C| Sioux Falls Lincoln
After Sunday it is clear to me why D1 Power-5 colleges are after him. I have never seen a 7-foot sophomore move as well as JT. He showed off great body control and a high motor for getting up and down the court. The first shot I watched him make was a turn-around fall-away jumper. Since when can a 7-footer make a fade away look good? Rock made many turn-around contested shots. This showed that he has great focus and shooting touch. He also showed off an impressive pull-up jump shot. As you would expect from a 7-footer, JT rebounded well and blocked multiple shots. Everyone needs to know who JT Rock JT Rock 7'1" | C Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2024 #37 Nation SD is!
Jaxson Wingert Jaxson Wingert 6'7" | PF Dakota Valley | 2024 State SD |6-6 PF| Dakota Valley
He did not play like a sophomore on Sunday. Wingert was crashing and dominating on the O-boards. He has an impressive physical presence about him. Jaxson passed the ball very well for a big man. He dropped multiple precision dimes to teammates for easy baskets. I loved how hard he ran the floor. This resulted in many easy transition buckets for Wingert. Many of his points at the Expo came after contact, his physicality is more like a senior. Wingert has unbelievable patience when he has the ball around the basket. He waits for the defense to leave their feet and he scores quickly. Wingert is the real deal and he will be a force to be reckoned with this winter.
Matt Anderson Matt Anderson 6'6" | SF Canton | 2024 State SD |6-6 SF| Canton
He was a very impressive player at the Avera Sports Center. Matt is long, strong, and athletic. He was dynamic and efficient in transition. This big and bouncy sophomore threw it down with ease. Anderson is a mature kid. He knows when to push it/go fast and he knows when to take his time. I was impressed with his patience in the post. He never rushed his move and he was always moving in the right direction. Anderson also shot it well from beyond the arc. He is a better perimeter shooter than I originally thought. Anderson is a spectacular basketball player and prospect.
Sam Almas Sam Almas 6'2" | SG Tea Area | 2024 State SD |6-2 G| Tea Area
I had heard he was athletic and Almas was that and much more! Sam moves like few can and he has an extra-long wingspan. These traits all make him a problematic defender, athletic rebounder, and versatile scorer. On Sunday, Sam had many multiple AND1 finishes. His body control after contact was what impressed me. In the game I watched Almas was hot, he was hitting everything. Sam was knocking down pull-up J’s and drilling 3-balls. For a first impression, Sam was ridiculous. Tea is supposed to be tough and if Almas plays like he did Sunday, the Titans will be a team that nobody wants to play.
Alec Squires Alec Squires 6'10" | C Sioux Valley | 2024 State #280 Nation SD |6-10 C| Sioux Valley
I was most impressed with how active he was on the offensive boards. This kid is going to be a star. Squires can rebound with the best. He protects the rim like a monster. I really liked Alec’s feet and hands. He catches well and everything he does with his feet looks smooth. Squires can hammer home a dunk with power or flush it down like a smooth wing player. Alec has a very high ceiling and he will be playing on a highly successful high school team this winter.
