Carrington Mcneal Carrington Mcneal 6'3" | PG Tca | 2022 State MN (6’2 2022 G, Twin Cities Academy)- During the 8am game on Sunday, Carrington helped lead his Twin Cities Academy team to a win over St. Paul Central. He has some solid size as a guard with the ability to play the 1 or the 2 alongside his twin brother. Defensively he was able to apply ball pressure the whole game, and despite being a guard he’s a shot blocking threat. Able to sprint into position to contest shots in the halfcourt, or make chase-down blocks in transition. On the offensive side he has a solid outside jumper but can also work his way into the paint and go up off two feet to finish in traffic.
Caleb Siwek Caleb Siwek 6'1" | SG Rosemount | 2022 State MN (6’2 2022 G, Rosemount)- Another day, another productive showing from Caleb Siwek Caleb Siwek 6'1" | SG Rosemount | 2022 State MN . The senior guard started off the game against Superior with some early buckets, scoring three times during the first 1:30 of play. He’s known for being one of the best shooters in the state, and he uses that to his advantage as his shot-fake constantly gets defenders in the air or flying by. That shot-fake leads to some straight line drives where he can get to the rim to finish, or pull-up for a short/mid-range jumper. In transition he’s dangerous with the ball in his hands as he’s always scanning the floor with his head up to keep his options open on whether to pass or get to the rim. Defensively he can sneak up on you at times in the full-court, as he showed a couple of times just poking the ball free from the opposing point guard after receiving the inbound pass.
Ryan Warren Ryan Warren 6'2" | SG Eden Prairie | 2022 State MN (6’3 2022 SG, Benilde-St. Margaret’s)- Ryan makes a great addition to a tough BSM team, as he gives them a defensive worker and another scoring threat offensively. When BSM needed some buckets in the second half to keep them alive, Ryan provided. He’s a left-handed player but is still so good at attacking right and finishing with his off hand through contact. The ability to drive in either direction keeps defenders honest, and it keeps Ryan’s options open when looking to attack. If his man sags off to much, Ryan showed he has a confident release from beyond the arc, which forces guys to play him tight. Defensively he can guard the point, or use his length to defend wings.
Johnny Tennyson Johnny Tennyson 6'3" | SG STMA | 2022 State MN (6’3 2022 SG, STMA)- For the first 10 minutes against Eagan, Johnny was simply on another level. The long guard was on fire from three, and it didn’t matter who you threw at him because he just wasn’t missing. Johnny was pulling up from deep off the dribble or finding space without the ball and simply draining every shot that left his hands. Although the shooting percentage eventually dropped to a more human level over the course of the game, Tennyson was able to adapt and start getting to the rim and take advantage of his size. He showed a bit of bounce to get up and finish in traffic, and always keeps his balance even with a swarm of defenders nearby. At times he even handled the ball for his team, showing he can be trusted to take on a variety of roles during his senior season.
Will Van Scoy Will Van Scoy 6'1" | PG Duluth East | 2022 State MN (6’1 2022 PG, Duluth East)- From the looks of it, Will is getting back that mobility in quickness that wasn’t full back yet over the summer after missing time with an injury. The Duluth East floor general was living in the paint at times against BSM, beating his initial man off the dribble and then getting into dangerous space where he had the vision to create for his teammates. If he isn’t able to locate an open man, Will is still a threat in the lane because of his ability to stop on two feet and put up a quick floater that can score over length. This Duluth East team has talent but lost a lot of experienced players from last season, so I think Will’s ability to facilitate and run the show will be key to their success this winter.
Dan Ijadimbola Dan Ijadimbola 6'3" | SG Benilde St Margaret's | 2022 State MN (6’3 2022 SG, Benilde-St. Margaret’s)- The Bemidji State commit looked the part of a scholarship level player on Sunday, as there simply wasn’t anyone that could keep him in front. He has a shifty handle which allows him to blow by his man off the dribble and get to the rim with ease. Although he isn’t a super explosive athlete, he has a quick first step to get by his defender and then he uses his length to extend and finish against size once at the rim. I also liked how he used his body to shield off defenders and then extend out with his finishing hand to score. This year as a senior he’ll be relied upon for not only production on both ends of the floor, but to also be a leader for a team filled with talent.
Carmello Mcneal Carmello Mcneal 6'3" | PG Tca | 2022 State MN (6’2 2022 G, Twin Cities Academy)- Just like his twin brother Carrington, Carmello proved to be a threat on both ends of the floor on Sunday morning. Offensively he has a dangerous pull-up game, as he doesn’t need much space to get planted and then elevate off the floor to get off a clean look over an extended hand. McNeal gets after it on the defensive end, not afraid to pick up deep and guard the length of the floor, while also being willing to get on the floor for a loose ball. Carmello averaged 16.6 ppg last season as a junior, and he can be expected to once again pose a significant scoring threat for his team.
