Continue ReadingAs we begin to get nearer to the start of the 2021-22 season of high school basketball, it must be noted that the class of 2024 has already established itself as full of quality players who will go on to play serious minutes at the collegiate level once their prep careers are over. These players have shown that they deserve playing time, despite still being young, and many still play with a lot of confidence and poise (shoutout to Coach Hughes) on the court. Continue reading for a look at some of the top stock risers from the class of 2024 rankings update in the great state of Idaho.
Jack DeJong Jack DeJong 6'4" | SF Lighthouse Christian | 2024 State ID , Lighthouse Christian: Jack is a dynamic player who was able to increase his position in the rankings thanks to a great summer of basketball as well as a strong offseason of continued work in the lab. DeJong has been working to introduce a new and improved jump shot that is more consistent and more compact to be able to stretch the floor and get his shots off in a hurry. Jack can also play well on the defensive end of the floor and he has proven that he can be a great two-way player.
Ty Hughes Ty Hughes 6'0" | SG Ambrose | 2024 State ID , Ambrose: Hughes was able to make the jump from being unranked in the previous ranking, to being a member of the top 10 during this ranking cycle. Hughes has impressed over the summer and appears to be ready for a big season of basketball in the winter. Ty can score at all three levels and is developing the ability to coin himself as more than just a catch-and-shoot shooter. Watch for Ty to become a dynamic scorer this season as he has also been working on improving his body, speed, and athleticism through offseason workouts.
Ahlius Yearout Ahlius Yearout 6'0" | SG Lapwai | 2024 State ID , Lapwai: Yearout has some big shoes to fill at Lapwai, but he looks up to the challenge to say the lease. Ahlius has been spending countless hours in the gym this summer in order to hone his craft and get to a level of play where he can take over the program and help Lapwai continue to assert their dominance. Watch for Yearout to become a great offensive player this season as a point guard and leader for a tough Lapwai team.
