I got to watch a lot of basketball this spring and summer, and there were a lot of players in New Mexico that stood out while playing in both local, and national tournaments! Summer is over, and with only a few fall events left the start of the high school basketball season is right around the corner. Offseason workouts are in full swing, and the preseason is only about 60 days away. Here is a breakdown of my top 10 posts and forwards in the Class of 2022.

  1. C 6’11 Isaiah Carr Isaiah Carr 6'11" | C Las Cruces | 2022 State NM , Las Cruces: Carr is one of the best shot blockers in the southwest, and will be the best rim defender in the state once again! The 6’11 Grand Canyon University commit is ranked as a top 50 Center in the country by ESPN, and has been working on expanding his offensive game while putting on some weight. I expect a huge season from him this year.
  2. C 6’8 Jose Murillo Jose Murillo 6'8" | C Highland | 2022 State NM , Highland: Jose has made huge strides since his freshman year adding a mid range jump shot, and quicker feet in the post. He can grab defensive rebounds go coast to coast and dunk
