Brady Ewing Brady Ewing 6'7" | PF Petoskey | 2022 State MI 6-7 2022 Petoskey Not the most athletic big at the camp but perhaps the most skilled. Has an excellent frame for the post. Excellent frame for the post. Is very mobile and is not going to get pushed off his spot. Helps that he has excellent footwork on the block. Can go over either shoulder. Runs the court well and has athleticism to finish above the rim. Can shoot it from just about anywhere already. Highly competitive player with a good basketball IQ. With some player departures and a new coach he should become the focal point of the Northmen attack. Already attracting plenty of small college interest. A big senior season could see him move quickly up recruiting boards.
Evan Solomon Evan Solomon 6'3" | PG Charlevoix | 2022 State MI 6-3 2022 Charlevoix As complete of a backcourt prospect as you will find in Northern Michigan. There simply aren’t many holes in his game. As his gridiron exploits show he is a top notch athlete. I have always liked the way he elevates on a true jump shot. In the past year has added the ability to finish above the rim. Tweener is sometimes seen as negative label. At 6-3 I love his ability to toggle between the point and two guard positions. On Sunday he was in more of a distribution mode. Like Ewing is already attracting small college interest. A strong academic profile combined with big senior season could see him take a similar path up recruiting boards.
Jaden Montague Jaden Montague 6'3" | PG Cadillac | 2023 State MI 6-2 2023 Cadillac (pictured at top of article) Montague had a good showing at the camp. Is a similar player to Solomon. Not big enough to be a true two guard. But shows enough athleticism and ball handling to be a dynamic lead guard. Unlike Solomon he has an extra year to solidify his positional fit. Offensively the signature of his game are strong athletic drives usually finished off by a soft floater. He also utilizes an explosive spin move that I did not see as much of on this particular day. Highly competitive player who did not come to the camp to make friends. Outside shot looked as as good on Sunday as I have seen it. The counting statistics will probably not be there as he plays in a deep and talented program. But this is a name coaches will want to get to know in the next two years.
Caleb Caul Caleb Caul 6'2" | CG Grayling | 2022 State MI 6-2 2022 Grayling In regards to the region easily the break out performer of the day. Made multiple explosive plays both in the half court and transition. Not the smoothest game but uses his stocky and agile frame to carve out space easily. Easily elevates off two feet for flushes that you would not expect. Not a true point guard but used an improving handle to get open shots nearly at will. Competes hard on both ends of the court but especially defensively. Should form a dynamic and athletically potent duo with Dylan Cragg Dylan Cragg 6'4" | SG Grayling | 2022 State MI for the Vikings. Grayling moves down to division 3 this year. A good senior year and a deep playoff run could really ramp up the small college interest. I know that interest is already present. As coaches were already talking to him in person after his excellent play on Sunday.
Anthony Ribel Anthony Ribel 6'3" | SG Traverse City Central | 2024 State MI 6-2 2024 Traverse City Central As you can tell from this list the Big North Conference is going to have some competitive matchups in the upcoming year. Ribel is the youngest of the bunch but might have the best long term potential. He has excellent size for the point and that should be his future position. However I was impressed on Sunday with his play at the two. He was active and moved with purpose off the ball. Also showed a quick catch and release on his perimeter shot. These skills will be useful in the coming year. As the Trojans should maintain the services of reigning BNC player of the year in point guard Carson Bourdo. However based on previous viewings these skills are the gravy of his game. Ribel’s bread and butter are next level court vision and wise beyond his years composure. He has played a lot played of big time basketball already. Spent the summer playing a national schedule with Grand Rapids Storm’s 2024 squad. It shows in his approach and I believe he just beginning to scratch the surface of his potential.
