The 2A class featured three ranked players, but there were a few more who were considered but didn’t quite make the first reveal. They should be included soon.
Here are some of the 2024s we expect to make an impact on the 2A classification:
8 Tanner Heckel Tanner Heckel 6'0" | CG Lyndon | 2024 State KS , 5-foot-9 point guard, Inman HS:
Heckel jumped out of the gate early and grabbed a high spot in the initial rankings for his standout freshman campaign at Inman. He joined TJ Williams TJ Williams 6'5" | SG Wichita Heights | 2024 State #176 Nation KS as the only ninth graders to receive all-state mention. He was a reliable leader as a ninth grader, standing out on defense and with his solid handle.
19 Eli Lawson Eli Lawson 6'7" | C Bennington | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-6 center, Bennington HS:
A highly productive big man in just his first year, Lawson got a jump start on the competition to earn this high rank. He was one of the top scorers and rebounders among all ninth graders, recording 12.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Lawson will have a chance to be a team leader and grow his skills, and should be a double-double candidate this year.
25 Ethan Rowan Ethan Rowan 6'1" | CG Central Heights | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-1 combo guard, Central Heights HS:
Rowan’s stats earned him the last spot in the initial ranking for 2024. He was just too productive to leave off. He showed off a really productive stroke from deep, was a consistent scorer and rebounder, and also dished out 2.2 assists per game. This will be a versatile guard to watch.
Dylan Gansel, 5-foot-11 combo guard, Hill City HS:
Gansel gave a glimpse of what he’s capable of when he poured in 15 points against top-ranked Hoxie in the season finale. He played a lot on a really good team, earning the trust of his coach, as well as his older teammates. He shot a respectable 38% from deep and accounted for 6.2 points and 1.4 assists, accompanied by a steal per contest.
Nash Johnsen Nash Johnsen 6'7" | C Conway Springs | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-6 center, Conway Springs HS (pictured in white):
This will be player to watch develop. Johnsen is long and lean, a prospect who will grow his game, particularly under the tutelage of the Buddy Buckets Program. He got some valuable varsity experience with the Cardinals last year, and should really take a step forward after a good summer of development.
