2024 Rankings: Top 10 Overview
Size and versatility, those are two things that are apparent in the latest update of the 2024 rankings in the state of North Carolina. There’s a lot to process with each prospect and below, there’s a brief overview of what every prospect brings to the floor. Check out the Top 10 overview of the 2024 Class.
1. Paul McNeil Paul McNeil 6'6" | SG Richmond County | 2024 State #172 Nation NC | 6’6 Guard/Wing | Richmond County High
McNeil swaps from No. 2 to No. 1 in the 2024 class rankings given his activity and development on the Big Shots stage. He’s a long, wiry guard that likes to create off the bounce and find his shot on the perimeter. He’s got a nice skillset and feel for the game and as his body develops, he’ll be an interesting prospect to track. Indiana, Tennessee and Western Carolina have offered him so far.
2. Jarin Stevenson Jarin Stevenson 6'8" | SF Seaforth | 2024 #14 Nation NC | 6’9 Forward/Wing | Seaforth High
Stevenson is another versatile prospect with size in the 2024 class that remains atop the rankings at No. 2. He’ll be the feature face at newly minted Seaforth High School when their basketball team debuts in 2021-22. After being a key piece in Northwood’s run to the state title game, he’ll look to do similar at his new location.
3. Kobe George Kobe George 6'3" | PG Winston-Salem Christian | 2023 #213 Nation NC | 6’4 Point Guard | The Burlington School
George is arguably the best passer in the 2024 class that sits at No. 3 in the 2024 rankings with offers from Rice, Coastal Carolina and North Carolina A&T already. He’s an emerging floor general set to lead the way for The Burlington School at the starting point guard role as they look to win another NCISAA 2A crown.
4. Maurio Hanson Maurio Hanson 6'7" | PF JL Chambers | 2024 State NC | 6’6 Power Forward | JL Chambers High
Hanson had a strong grassroots season in the Team CP3 rotation and finds himself in the Top 10 still at No. 4. He’s really improved his body and as a result, his mobility has improved a ton. He gets to the rim with ease and uses his length to finish with authority when he can. He’ll be one to watch at JL Chambers High in 2021-22.
5. Jahseem Felton Jahseem Felton 6'5" | CG Combine Academy (NC) | 2024 State #189 Nation NC | 6’5 Guard | Gaston Christian Academy
Felton has been another mainstay in the Top 10 in NC’s 2024 class given his skillset. He’s got good instincts off the bounce and knocking down shots off the catch and as he shows his development, he’ll be one to watch in the state. He looks to make the move from Westminster Catawba Christian over to Gaston Christian Academy in 2021-22.
6. Lewis Walker Lewis Walker 6'6" | PF Winston-Salem Christian | 2024 State #178 Nation NC | 6’6 Power Forward | Winston-Salem Christian
Walker is another big man prospect that’s really improved his body and as a result, his game has elevated. He’s an unstoppable force on the block as a paint threat and as he shows his ability to create off the perimeter, look for his recruitment to grow a ton. He holds offers already from North Carolina A&T and Wake Forest.
7. Isaiah Sutherland Isaiah Sutherland 6'8" | C United Faith Christian Academy | 2024 State NC | 6’9 Forward/Wing | Northside Christian Academy
Sutherland is a developing big man prospect at 6-foot-9 that continues to climb the ranks, moving from No. 35 to No. 7. He’s really shown his growth attacking the paint and finishing around the rim, especially from the perimeter spot. As he works into the Northside Christian rotation in 2021-22, look for him to emerge as an impact guy on both ends of the floor with his length.
8. Drake Powell Drake Powell 6'6" | CG Northwood | 2024 State #8 Nation NC | 6’5 Guard | Northwood High
Powell is a “head-turner” type of prospect when he’s on the floor and is another mainstay in the Top 10 ranks. He uses his length and strength on the defensive end to force turnovers and create fastbreak opportunities. Offensively, he’s got quite the confidence as a perimeter shooter with efficiency when he gets going. He’s one to watch at Northwood High in 2021-22.
9. Jamal Brown Jamal Brown 6'6" | PF Word of God | 2025 NC | 6’6 Forward | Word of God Academy
Brown is another newcomer in the Top 10 ranks after a productive grassroots season with Team 1 of 1. He plays with a ton of energy and relentlessness on both ends of the floor, using his length to get to his spots in the paint and finish through traffic with ease. He’ll be an intriguing piece in the Word of God Academy rotation in 2021-22.
10. Rakease Passmore Rakease Passmore 6'6" | SF Combine Academy | 2024 State #50 Nation NC | 6’4 Guard/Wing | AC Reynolds
Passmore is the last of the Top 10 names in NC’s 2024 class. He’s a versatile wing prospect with a ton of athleticism that he utilizes well to make plays at the rim on both ends of the floor. As he shows off his ability to create off the bounce, look for teams to jump on him on the recruiting trail.
