Prospects 6-11
#6 Robert Basks Robert Basks 6'0" | SG Wichita West | 2024 State KS , 5’10 Guard, Wichita West, Kansas Players: Averaged nearly 6 points, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds per game during his freshman campaign and had a really successful spring and summer. A terrific outside shooter who can get hot in a hurry, the lefty has a quick trigger on catch and shoot situations, and a solid shot off the bounce especially off the hop. Basks has the potential to really take off this season at West as his usage rate should skyrocket. Put up some monster scoring outputs during the grassroots season as well. Will be well known as a premier shooter in Kansas after this high school season
#7 David Cobin David Cobin 5'10" | PG De Soto | 2024 State #285 Nation KS , 5’9 Point Guard, DeSoto, KC Spurs Black (Pitcured): Cobin has flown up radars across the Midwest since the spring. He tore it up for the KC Spurs Black club and showed that he is ready to charter in kind of a new era for DeSoto after some key members graduated last season. Has all the tools to be a high level point guard both in distributing the ball and creating for himself. The handle is really solid and has a quick burst to get by guys and playing downhill. Suffered a tough injury to end the summer session so here is hoping he is back on the floor for the start of the high school season.
#8 Tanner Heckel Tanner Heckel 6'0" | CG Lyndon | 2024 State KS , 5’9 Point Guard, Inman: One of the better defensive point guards in this 2024 group, with really active hands and instinct to play in the passing lanes. Gets out and finishes in transition, pushes tempo really well. Caught the prep hoops team’s attention last high school season putting up some big time efforts in his freshman season against top tier competition. Has the ability to knock down the deep ball as well.
#9 Kale Staats Kale Staats 6'1" | CG Liberty North | 2024 MO , 6’1 Guard, St Thomas Aquinas, Run GMC: A name to watch this season as Aquinas is primed with talent that got much needed experience last year being thrown right into the fire early. Staats elevated his game big time on the UAA circuit as well. Like Heckel before, Staats is a big time defender of the basketball, accepts tough matchups, and sets the tone on that end of the floor. Continues to expand his offensive game as well from the playmaking and shooting aspects. A name to watch this season.
#10 Will Thengvall Will Thengvall 6'3" | SF Kapaun | 2024 State KS , 6’3 Wing, Kapaun Mt Carmel, Buddy Buckets: An all around solid basketball player that imprints the game on a ton of levels. Played some varsity last year for a really good Kapaun team, and Will is going to have a much expanded role this season. Was a massive contributor to the loaded Buddy Buckets 15U team. Has great length and is sure to add a couple of inches to his already athletic frame. Is a true plug and play type of player who has a ton of upside.
#11 Nate Thengvall Nate Thengvall 6'3" | SF Kapaun | 2024 KS , 6’3 Wing, Kapaun Mt Carmel, Buddy Buckets: Nate thrives on the perimeter and knocking down the 3 ball. Is a terrific shooter especially off drive and kicks and spot up threes. Has the chance to grow and be a versatile stretch 4 here in the near future, but much like his brother, has tremendous upside. Nate will get the chance to step into more of the Varsity lime light this year with key guys graduating from Kapaun. Expect him to give them a tremendous knock down shooting option this season.
