Greg Jones Greg Jones 6'5" | SF Hayfield | 2023 State #258 Nation VA | 6’5” WF | Hayfield
Jones sits at #12 in our 2023 rankings and while I think his long term potential is what makes him such an intriguing prospect he also continues to get better and show a lot of versatility at his size. He’s a long and super bouncy around the rim, he’s unselfish and has good playmaking ability at his size and he can play and guard multiple positions when he’s on the floor.
Yuri Manns Yuri Manns 6'3" | CG LC Bird | 2023 State VA | 6’3” CG | LC Bird
Manns showed flashes last year helping LC Bird to the Class 5 state tournament, but this year with the departure of their top two scorers from last year in Jaden Daughtry Jaden Daughtry 6'6" | SF Benedictine College Prep | 2022 VA and Bryce Blaine. The 6’3” combo guard has improved in his ability off the bounce and with his strength, he’s capable of making plays for himself and others off the bounce and he’s a good shooter from deep and can score it in the midrange as well.
Leland Coleman Leland Coleman 6'6" | SF Trinity Episcopal | 2023 State VA | 6’5” WF | Trinity Episcopal
Coleman is a late bloomer who has shown flashes of brilliance so far in his career, but now he’ll be the center piece for a rebuilding group at TES and he looks ready for the challenge. He’s a super long and bouncy wing who can play way above the rim, he has improved as a shooter and a shot creator off the bounce and he’s an excellent defender who can guard multiple positions and shut down the opposing team’s best player.
Etienne Strothers Etienne Strothers 6'1" | PG Menchville | 2023 State VA | 6’1” PG | Menchville
It’s hard to say that a rising junior with four division one offers is set to “break out,” but Strothers is finally going to be the focal point of the offense with the departure of his brother and a few other seniors who were standouts the past few years. He had a big summer with Boo Williams where he showed he’s a dual threat guard that can score it and make plays for others, he’s both explosive and crafty around the rim and he can let it fly and knock it down from deep consistently.
Desmond Roberts Desmond Roberts 6'5" | SF St Anne’s Belfield | 2023 State VA | 6’5” WF | VES
Roberts has shown flashes as a young prospect, but this summer he showed he’s turning the corner and will be a force to reckon with this year with VES. The 6’5” forward is an athletic freak who thrives in transition and can play above the rim, he plays with a great motor and is very productive on the glass on both ends and he has improved as a ball handler and can get to the rim in straight lines and finish through contact.
CJ McPherson CJ McPherson 6'3" | SG Norfolk Collegiate | 2023 State VA | 6’3” WG | Norfolk Collegiate
McPherson is coming off of a big summer with Team Loaded 757 and with the departure of some of Norfolk Collegiate’s best players he’s going to be the go-to option and he can flat out fill it up. He’s a strong two guard who has good instincts on both ends, he has an absolute flamethrower from deep and he knows how to create shots for himself and others.
