The point guard group is especially talented and there are prospects looking to make a name for themselves this season. Here are the top 2022 point guards with the most to prove this season.
Jaden Arline Jaden Arline 5'11" | PG Paul VI | 2022 State NJ , 5’11 Paul VI
Arline had a productive summer with Peach Jam champions Team Final and it should carry over into the winter. The 5’11 floor general is a lockdown defender who makes it hard for opponents to get into their sets on offense. Arline has a tight handle, which he uses to break down the defense and make plays. He has a quick release on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches. Arline will be counted on to be the go-to guy for Paul VI this season and is ready to assume that role this season.
Ryan Curry Ryan Curry 6'0" | PG Montgomery | 2022 State NJ , 6’0 Montgomery
Curry had a good summer with the Jersey Force , but he will have a different role for the Cougars this season. The 6’0 guard plays with his head up and looks to get his teammates involved in the half court. Curry has a good shooting form and can get hot from distance in a hurry. He is an underrated defender and is a strong rebounder for a guard. Curry will be the focal point of Montgomery’s offense with Chris Rubayo Chris Rubayo 6'8" | PF Montgomery | 2021 State NJ ‘s graduation, putting the floor general in more of a scoring role.
Quadir Harrell Quadir Harrell 5'10" | PG Bound Brook | 2022 State NJ , 5’10 Bound Brook
Harrell has accomplished so much over his career at Bound Brook and more will be asked of him after the graduations of Davie McLarty Davie McLarty SG Bound Brook | 2021 State NJ and Cam’Ron Summers Cam’Ron Summers 6'4" | SG Bound Brook | 2021 State NJ . The 5’10 guard is tough to contain off the bounce and can finish through contact around the basket. Harrell is also deadly from distance as he does not need a lot of space to get his shot off. He moves his feet well on the defensive end and gets his teammates involved in the half court. Harrell is a do-it all guard for the Crusaders and more will be asked of him in his senior season as he looks to Bound Brook deep in the state tournament again.
Amari Campbell Amari Campbell 6'3" | PG St. Joe's Metuchen | 2022 State NJ , 6’3 St. Joe’s Metuchen
The Falcons are one of the most talented teams in the GMC and they need Campbell to make sure everyone gets their touches on offense. The athletic 6’3 guard can finish above the rim and does not mind drawing contact. Campbell can score in the mid-range and can knock down open jumpers from behind the arc. He has the athleticism to defend both guard spots and skies for rebounds. Campbell will have to run the offense effectively if St. Joe’s Metuchen wants to reach its full potential this season.
Shy’heed Jenkins-Floyd Shy’heed Jenkins-Floyd PG Union City | 2022 State NJ , Union City
Jenkins-Floyd had a solid debut season for the Eagles, but more will be asked of him this season. The Snyder transfer is lightning quick with the ball in his hands and knows how to get to the basket from the perimeter. Jenkins-Floyd is a good passer who knows how to get his teammates involved in the half court. He plays tough on-ball defense and knows how to jump passing lanes. Union City was only able to play five games last season, making Jenkins-Floyd’s learning curve even steeper this season.
