Of the few that participated, the 5 in the below article were the “best-of-the-best” in my book. These names likely won’t be as well known this year, but as these players get older, watch out!
Charlie Uhl (Alter)- Uhl brings good size to the game and does the fundamentals extremely well. Utilizes his long arms and 6-foot-5 frame to be a force on the glass. Secured boards for his team and served as their big. Could be a big piece for the Knights this upcoming season.
Wes Enis Wes Enis 6'2" | SG Miami East | 2024 OH (Miami East)- Enis physically does not look like a sophomore at first glance. He instead looks like an upperclassman with his frame and physicality. Showed some range and confidence pulling from the perimeter. Lefty has a chance to excel in a new conference this upcoming high school season.
Logan Hawley (Preble Shawnee)- Sunday turned out to be my first time watching Hawley at the high school level. The 6-foot-5 post has a lot of upside as he has benn working a lot on his interior game. Hawley knows how to use his bigger body and was not afraid to get physical with Lee Benson Lee Benson 6'5" | PF Meadowdale | 2023 State OH in their game Sunday. Hawley is still a bit raw but playing with a guard like Mason Shrout Mason Shrout 6'4" | SF Preble Shawnee | 2024 State OH is a positive sign for the Arrows.
Juan Cranford Jr. (Wayne)- Cranford was another prospect I had not seen in person before Sunday’s games. I ended up feeling very confident in Cranford’s game and optimistic of what he can do for Wayne this upcoming season. The sophomore lefty can flat out shoot the ball. Knocked down 3-straight 3’s in a losing effort Sunday. Strong frame for a guard and very capable of being a high volume scorer. Lots of upside and potential with Wayne missing as much talent as they are.
Mason Shrout Mason Shrout 6'4" | SF Preble Shawnee | 2024 State OH (Preble Shawnee)- Shrout entered the games as the most well known sophomore in the area. Standing at 6-foot-4, Shrout is a straight bucket getter. Got the ball in the rim in a variety of ways. Good control with the ball an finishing ability was clean. Mismatch with the size and will likely be a mismatch in the WOAC this year. Shrout’s scoring numbers are impressive as a freshman and could continue to increase as the years go on.
