In this article, I will highlight some of the better performances I watched first from those in the 2022 class.
Brandon Pooler (Northmont)
Pooler definitely worked on his game during the offseason and it was on display on Sunday. He was one of several scoring options on his team and especially impressed with his midrange shooting touch. He has an opportunity to be a leader for this young Northmont team as they prepare for a new era under Darnell Hoskins.
Darian Leslie (Dunbar)
Leslie worked his tail off and impressed with a high motor and high energy style of play. Leslie broke down defenders on the perimeter with 2-3 moves and had the speed to get by guys and finish at the rim. Knocked down pull-up jumpers off the bounce when he was stopped on-ball. Exemplified second efforts and found some offensive rebounds with his hustle.
Gabe Pavlak Gabe Pavlak 6'6" | SF Bellbrook | 2022 OH (Bellbrook)
Pavlak looked amazing in his first game since 2020. After missing the high school season due to injury, he demonstrated how hard he worked to get back into things. The 6-foot-5 Bellbrook standout has added muscle to his frame and looks like a true wing. Showed great touch at the rim and was too strong that defenders bounced off of him when he attacked off the dribble.
Ian Sabourin (Badin)
The 6-foot-4 Wing ran the floor well with the event serving as my first time checking out Sabourin. The Badin standout is an unselfish player and combines this drive and size to be a tough matchup. He put this on display Sunday morning. Gets up and down the floor and demonstrates what you would expect in a GCL player.
Jaydon Litten (Versailles)
Litten was a fantastic scorer and put up a gritty performance. He doesn’t stand out as one of the more athletic players you’ll see, but he competes on a nightly basis. Plays hard on both ends of the floor. Showed versatility as a scorer and was able to put the ball in the basket in different ways. Shot the ball exceptionally well from the periemeter and knocked down shots from collegiate range.
Jaden Jefferson (Western Hills)
Jefferson was on fire last week at the Open Gym and showed some signs of solid play on Sunday. The 6-foot-3 slasher from Western Hills got to the rim when he wanted utilizing his long arms and quickness. He sat down on the defensive end and showed willingness to defend guys like Lawrent Rice Lawrent Rice 6'4" | PG Huber Heights Wayne | 2023 State #184 Nation OH and Evan Dickey which was admirable. He will join a West High team desperate to compete in the CMAC in the Winter.
Brendan Crump (Stivers)
Crump has been known in the past for being a defensive nightmare. He spent Sunday creating for himself on the offensive end. Crump has incredible bounce and used it to win the small battles on defense and on the boards. The lefty got downhill quickly and finished around the rim and through contact.
