These seven players may not be as well known as some of the other prospects in their class, but are all names that colleges at various levels should know when looking for wings.
Josh Hoffman Josh Hoffman 6'5" | SF North Metro Blazers | 2022 State MN (6’4 2022 W, Hopkins)- After playing with the North Metro Blazers previously, a club team made up primarily of home schooled students, Josh will be attending Hopkins as a senior. He’s a versatile 6’4 wing who had to do a lot with his old team, and showed that he can do a bit of everything. Josh is explosive around the rim, has some deep shooting range, and is dangerous as a slasher. He has a ton of confidence in his game, and that showed last year as he put up some strong scoring numbers against a Minnesota Prep team filled with scholarship level players. With Hopkins he’ll have more talent surrounding him so he won’t be carrying such a heavy workload, so it will be interesting to see how he adapts to whatever role he gets put in. Intriguing player to watch this winter.
Keyon Broussard Keyon Broussard 6'4" | SG Roseville | 2022 State MN (6’4 2022 SG, Roseville)- Keyon brings some intriguing physical attributes to the floor as a 6’4, athletic wing. For an inexperienced Roseville team Keyon averaged 6.6 ppg last season as a junior, but I think we could see that number just about double as a senior based off what he showed this summer. He’s a dangerous player in the open floor due to his speed and ability to handle the ball coast-to-coast to get to the rim while also keeping his head up to find an open teammate. Keyon is a player who can be trusted to hit the 3P in the mid 30%’s, forcing defenders to keep a hand up and guard him beyond the arc.
Marko Vukomanovich Marko Vukomanovich 6'4" | PF Tartan | 2022 State MN (6’5 2022 SF, Tartan)- Marko plays with a winning program in the winter, and helped the new Northstar Titans program pick up some big wins this past spring/summer as well. Defensively he’s a hard working player who hustles back in transition, and puts himself into good positions off the ball to make plays whether its getting a hand in on a driving player, or contesting straight up around the rim. Offensively he’s reliable from beyond the arc, and has shown he’s capable of getting to the basket off the dribble. Plays well off of two feet in the paint, gathering his balance and effectively using shot-fakes to get defenders in the air before finishing. Averaged 7.7 ppg as a junior and should go into his senior season with a ton of confidence after a strong summer.
Gabe Senseman-Cassidy Gabe Senseman-Cassidy 6'5" | SF Minneapolis Southwest | 2022 State MN (6’5 2022 SF, Minneapolis Southwest)- Gabe is a player who just goes out and produces on a nightly basis. Averaged 12.1 ppg last season for a Southwest team that could sneak up on a lot of people this year, and has seen his recruitment at the D3 level start to take off. He shoots it well from the mid-range, and is a strong ball handler for his size, capable of weaving through defenders to get to the rim and finish. Because of his length Gabe has a bit of defensive versatility in that he can guard some size in the post but also move his feet to defend smaller wings. Add in some athleticism around the rim and he’s a solid wing prospect.
Leroy Fairbanks IV Leroy Fairbanks IV 6'4" | SF Cass Lake-Bena | 2022 State MN (6’4 2022 SF, Cass Lake-Bena)- Really like the versatility that LeRoy displayed this past summer. At around 6’4 he played just about every spot on the floor offensively, and that’s due to his balanced skill-set. He’s a high percentage three point shooter who can knock down shots off the dribble or run off screens without the ball. On the perimeter he’s a dangerous passer due to his vision and ability to zip passes into tight spaces accurately to set up his teammates. Won’t always be the most athletic player on the floor but simply finds ways to produce and is a hard worker on the glass. Has a smooth spin-move to score from the block as well.
Will Kinsey (6’5 2022 SF, Spring Lake Park)- Will was a solid glue guy for his MSP Elite team this summer, and looks like he could translate the production into the high school season as well. Won’t be someone who puts up big numbers, but just goes out and works to do whatever his coach asks of him. Offensively he has a solid mid-range game and a high releasing shot that makes it difficult for defenders to contest. Will also runs the floor hard in transition, and is able to absorb some contact while maintaining his balance to finish. On the defensive end his length can disrupt passing lanes to tip passes and head the other way. Has the potential to take a step forward this winter as a senior.
Derrick “DJ” Anthony (6’4 2022 SG, Irondale)- Though Irondale struggled last winter, DJ proved to be a bright spot for them scoring just under 10 ppg. That production carried over to the AAU season with E1T1 Premier as DJ was an exciting player who proved he can go and get a bucket in isolation. At around 6’4-6’5 he’s a lengthy wing with explosive ability around the rim and a creative handle that allows him to get into the paint or create separation to get off a shot. He has a bit of an unorthodox shooting form but in the games I watched he proved he can connect from deep consistently. I also like his ability as a drive-and-dish player as he gets into the lane effortlessly and has shown the vision to locate open shooters when the help defender slides over.
