Caleb Foster Caleb Foster 6'4" | PG Notre Dame | 2023 State CA-S | 6’4” PG | Oak Hill Academy ’23
Foster is widely considered one of the top 3 point guards in the country in the 2023 class, and he’s arguably the best shooter as far as strictly from deep. He’s a true floor general that can make plays for others and run a team, but the fact that he can come off of ball screens and knock down shots, change speeds and stop on a dime to create space and he can move off the ball and step into shots makes him so difficult to stop when his team needs a big shot to be made.
Austin Ball Austin Ball 6'7" | SF Miller School | 2023 State #203 Nation VA | 6’5” WF | Miller School ’23
Ball has reclassified and moved to Miller School after leading his team to a WV state championship and being named POY last season, and he’s already made a splash as he tore up the June live period with Miller and had a fantastic showing with WV Generals over the summer. He’s a good athlete and that comes into his shooting as he elevates well and can shoot over top of players, he has deep range and a quick trigger and he’s a walking bucket that can score it from multiple levels.
Logan Rhoades Logan Rhoades 6'2" | CG Mills Godwin | 2023 State VA | 6’1” WG | Blue Ridge ’23
Rhoades will make the move to Blue Ridge from Mills Godwin where he had a breakout sophomore season, and the two sport star fits like a glove with the Barons with his shooting ability and feel for the game as well. He’s becoming more athletic and using that athleticism to get to spots and make shots from multiple levels, he has a quick release and can square up well coming off of screens and he has picture perfect form from the feet up.
Ryan Steger Ryan Steger 6'2" | SG James River (Buchanan) | 2023 State VA | 6’2” WG | James River (Buchanan) ’23
There are some kids that have perfect form and there are some who have a little bit of a different type of shot but can still shoot it as well as anyone, and that’s what Steger has as his shot isn’t super conventional but he’s been one of the top shooters in the Roanoke area over the past few years. The 6’2” guard has a good follow through and a relatively quick release, but what he does well is work well off the ball coming off of screens and drifting with the ball, and he has supreme confidence and deep range as a shooter and he will make you pay if you leave him open.
Gavin Cormany Gavin Cormany 6'0" | CG Oak Hill Red | 2025 State VA | 6’1” WG | Radford ’24
Yes, there’s another Cormany in Radford as the youngest of Head Coach Rick Cormany’s son is set to lead a young but talented Radford group over the next few seasons, and he had one of the most impressive shooting performances I saw all summer when he hit 8 three-pointers in a championship game for VA Havoc Roanoke. The 6’1” guard is lights out with great footwork on the move and deep range on the catch, and don’t think it’s all he can do as he also has good toughens on both ends and can make plays for others.
Chance Mallory Chance Mallory 5'10" | PG St. Anne's Belfield | 2025 State #73 Nation VA | 5’7” CG | STAB ’24
One of my favorite sayings every time I have watched STAB play over the past few years is “If you don’t love Change Mallory you don’t love basketball,” as I have seen the 5’7” guard kill guys bigger than him ever since he was an eighth grader. He’s a gritty kid who will stick his nose in defensively and will rebound over guys much bigger than him, but what he really thrives in is shooting the basketball as he has range out past 30 feet with ease and he can make shots off the catch or off the bounce and get hot quickly from deep.
