Tyler King 6’2 St Louis Stars: The slender shooting guard from Parkway West made a name for himself over the weekend as he led the Stars to the 16U championship. He is a tremendous slashing threat with a quick first step and the ability to finish at the rim. He was also a weapon in the open court transition game. He averaged more than 20 points during the weekend, including 25 points in the championship game.
BJ Ward 6’0 St Louis Warriors 17U: The solid point guard from Chaminade helped the Warriors to the 17U championship. He is a steady pass-first floor leader who keeps things calm and organized on the floor. He’s physically strong, so he can get to his spots on the floor and defenders who pressure him just bounce off of him. He finds the open teammate consistently and he can get a bucket when he needs it.
Jorden Williams Jorden Williams 6'0" | PG Whitfield | 2023 State MO 6’0 TTG Elite 17U: A talented lefty guard from Whitfield who had an excellent weekend scoring and passing the basketball. He displayed a nice shooting stroke throughout the weekend as he hit seven 3-pointers in one game I watched and five treys in another. He’s very crafty with the ball as he can get by defenders off the dribble. He is also a creative passer and skilled ball handler.
Barry Thomas Barry Thomas 6'1" | PG St. Charles West | 2023 State MO 6’1 Ball So Hard: A talented combo guard from University City who scored 19 points in the championship game of the 16U division. He displayed scoring ability at all three levels as he got buckets on smooth slashing drives and long 3-pointers. He can facilitate offense when he needs to, but he is at his best when he’s assertive on the offensive end.
Jhordan Covington-Berry Jhordan Covington-Berry 6'3" | SG Hazelwood Central | 2023 State MO 6’3″ Ball So Hard: An impressive guard from Hazelwood Central who is strong physically and very skilled with the ball. He’s a potent offensive player who plays under control and doesn’t try to force a lot of bad shots, which is what impressed me the most.
Javaris Moye Javaris Moye 6'4" | SG Kirkwood | 2023 State MO 6’4″ TTG Elite 17U: The smooth wing from Kirkwood scored 27 points in a 17U bracket play game on Sunday morning. The young man just knows how to get buckets and he does it at all three levels. He’s very confident with the ball in his hands with his quick first step and ability to change speeds and keep defenders off balance. He has the size and length to be a factor on the defensive end as well.
Colby Noblitt 6’0 SoCo Tigers: The young combo guard from Oakville was one of the most impressive perimeter shooters that I watched and he did it playing up at 17U. He moves well without the ball and he has a quick release to go with his deep range.
