Jaiden Carrasquillo 6’0″ Verona: This 2022 guard is “Verona Buckets” because he has so many ways to put the ball in the basket. He’s a very resourceful scorer who crafty around the basket with a variety of spin moves and fakes to get buckets and draw fouls. He comes at you from all angles. He can also pull up from the middle area and knock down 3-pointers. He will be one of the leading scorers in the SWMO area this upcoming season.
Josh Reeves Josh Reeves 6'1" | SG Golden City | 2023 State MO 6’1″ Golden City: The 2023 guard was one of the most impressive shooters that I watched at the showcase. His 3-point shot was so pure that the net barely moved when the ball swished through the hoop. It was barely a ripple and it was smooth. He comes off down screens, moves without the ball and can knock down shots in transition. He’s primed for a big scoring season as a junior.
Teddy Reedybacon Teddy Reedybacon 6'10" | C McDonald County | 2022 State MO 6’10″ McDonald County: It was my second consecutive weekend watching this 2022 post player play and I continue to be impressed with his back to the basket game. He did a nice job sealing his man for position and catching the ball and keeping it high. He can score with both hands and his jump hook is very effective. He used his length inside to have a strong defensive presence. He hasn’t been playing basketball long so he has a pretty big upside.
Eric Wilson 6’0″ Hartville: A very solid 2022 guard who did many things well, but he was very good at two specific aspects of the game. First, he could really shoot the ball. When he got a good look from 3-point range, it was cash money. Second, he was clearly the best when it came to taking charges at the camp. He gave up his body several times to draw offensive fouls, which was extraordinary at a showcase camp. But, he plays for Hartville, so that should not surprise anybody. It’s part of their championship culture.
Nick Burri 6’2″ Greenwood: A 2023 wing player who has a solid all-around perimeter game. He’s a lefty who has a very reliable shot from 3-point range. When he wasn’t shooting it well, he was capable of getting things done off the dribble with a nice pull up jumper. He can handle the ball and make a solid decision.
Ethan Scheetz 6’1″ Niangua: A 2024 wing player who didn’t mind getting inside the lane and mixing things up. When matched up against a smaller guard, he could go inside and post up to get a bucket or get himself to the free throw line. He also had a few impressive runners that he hit off the dribble.
Carter Fenske 6’1″, Neosho: A 2023 wing who has a nice shooting stroke from 3-point range. He could dial it up from well beyond the 3-point line with confidence. I was also impressed with the quick release on his shot. He didn’t waste any time when he caught the pass. It was up and out of his hands.
