Brody Wishart (6’2 2024 G, D1 Minnesota)- Brody was one of the best athletes I saw play at the 15u level this summer, and he used that athleticism to make plays constantly on the defensive end. He constantly puts in the effort to get into position to draw charges, and he excels at jumping the passing lanes to come up with steals. Not sure I saw another 15u player get on the floor for more loose balls this season as well. In transition he’s one of the fastest players in the 2024 class as he can fly up the sidelines without the ball, or weave through defenders with the ball in his hands to get to the rim. Brody is a tough finisher at the rim, can hit the open three, and has a motor that never quits making him a fun player to watch.
Tameron Ferguson (5’11 2024 PG, Team GetShook)- A highly skilled point guard in the 2024 class, Tameron has an advanced feel for the game and excels at creating off the dribble. He’s a big shot maker who can create his own space with ease from three or mid-range, and also makes great reads coming off screens. Tameron knows when he has the space to get off his own shot, but also has the vision to thread the needle to a teammate when defenders close in on him. Although he is a sharpshooter, he doesn’t rely on his jumper. If the shot isn’t falling he’s shown he can take over a game with his facilitating and scrappy defense on the other end of the floor.
Casmir Chavis (6’3 2024 G, Minnesota Spartans)- Since the end of the high school season, Chavis has taken the next step forward athletically. He looks the part of one of the most explosive guards in the class, and when you add that to how skilled he already was as a freshman, it makes for a dangerous combination. All summer long he played up against older competition, whether it was with his 15u Spartans team playing up at the 16u level, or at the MBCA showcase where he was one of a select few of 2024 prospects, Casmir held his own with some of the best in the Midwest. He has a great feel for the game off the bounce, and is a smooth finisher attacking the basket. Defensively he also brings that Islander toughness and effort that DeLaSalle guards have become known for. Add in his explosive finishing ability in the open floor and he makes for an exciting prospect to watch moving forward.
Jonathan Mekonnen (6’5 2024 F, Minnesota Heat PBJ)- When you have a player at 6’5 with Jonathan’s explosive athleticism, you’re almost guaranteed one or two high flying finishes each game. That was the norm for Jonathan as he excelled at quick cuts on the baseline to receive a bounce pass before elevating off two feet to dunk it home. Not only can he finish above the rim, but Jonathan is relentless on the offensive glass, often turning teammates’ misses as well as his own misses into a quick putback bucket for two points. He does the bulk of his damage offensively in the paint, but showed flashes of handling the ball in transition, attacking from the wing, and knocking down threes when given space beyond the arc.
Maxwell Woods (5’10 2024 PG, Minnesota Fury)- Maxwell was one of the most exciting defenders to watch at any age group this summer, as his quickness and intensity led to constant steals and drawn charges. You don’t see many players that can move their feet and stick to their man like glue, and that led to plenty of frustrated ball handlers on opposing teams. Woods is also a vocal player who made sure to get his team fired up after himself or one of his teammates made a big play. Offensively he can take over a game with his outside shooting, but is also fearless using his quick first step to get to the rim and finish against size. Tough two-way prospect who was a consistent performer all summer.
Daniel Freitag Daniel Freitag 6'1" | PG Breck | 2024 State #142 Nation MN (6’2 2024 PG, Howard Pulley/Team Tyus)- Already holding high major offers from Minnesota and Wisconsin, Daniel put in some strong performances on the EYBL as well as at the MBCA Showcase and the Wisconsin Advanced Camp this summer. He’s an explosive athlete who can finish above the rim with ease, but does much more than just dunk the ball. He excels at creating turnovers and turning defense into offense the other way, and is a gifted facilitator in the pick & roll. Daniel makes smart reads with the basketball, and has seen his pull-up jumper improve over the last 8 months, making him more dangerous in the half court. After knocking down game winning free throws in two EYBL games last month, he also showed that he’s not afraid to make plays with the game on the line.
Shaun Wysocki (6’1 2024 W, Minnesota Lightning)- Shaun is a real intriguing prospect to track moving forward. He’s listed at 6’1 but has a long and lanky frame that suggests he could grow even more. That length on the wing proved to be dangerous at the 15u level, as he can guard multiple spots and get up in passing lanes. From beyond the arc he has a silky smooth jumper that connects at a high rate, but overcommit and he’s capable of putting the ball on the floor and attacking the basket. Doesn’t force much offensively yet manages to be a consistent performer due to his effort and smart shot selection.
