Continue ReadingFrom the various team camps around Louisiana in June to the UAA and Prep Hoops Circuit in July, I have gotten a chance to see alot of players from not only the Boot, but other regions as well. Beginning a quick review of the summer, I am listing the better forwards and post players I saw from my various summer travels. All of these names are not nationally known but they are quality forwards who have a future on the next level. (Forwards are listed in alphabetical order)
Sedric Applewhite (6’6″ | F | 2022) – Was the best forward for O.W.E. all summer. He is a phenomonal finisher in transition
Amare Anderson (6’9″ | F | 2022) – Shotblocker who can run the floor. He has had steady improvement all summer long
Kadyn Betts (6’7″ | F | 2023) – Top 3 rated player in Colorado; has an all-around game; can score from either block and shoot from outside
Aidan Bevrotte (6’7″ | F | 2022) – Post player who has a feathery touch from the outside; has good hands to catch and finish in the paint
Phil Bradford (6’4″ | F | 2022) – High IQ post player; he can face up and drive or pound teams on the glass; good post passer as well
Jonathan Bradshaw (6’4″ | SF | 2023) – Ouachita lefty can shoot the three, drive, and rebound; hard player to defend anywhere on the floor
Donald Butler (6’5″ | F | 2022) – Excellent defender in the post or perimeter. He was the best finisher in transition all summer
Corey Chest (6’8″ | F | 2023) – The McMain forward is rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN. Had an impressive summer with LivOn Fleur-de-Lis
Kamron Coleman (6’7″ | F | 2023) – Athletic forward who is coming into his own. Rebounds well for his frame and can run the floor all day
Percy Daniels (6’9″ | F | 2022) – Madison Prep forward was dominant on both ends of the floor during the Chargers team camp
Jeremiah Evans (6’8″ | F | 2024) – Highly skilled forward who can make short jumpers or score over each shoulder; shotblocker
Malachi Evans (6’9″ | F | 2023) – Shotblocker who is still a little raw offensively; can command the paint on defense and run the floor
Jaedon Foreman (6’4″ | F | 2023) – Attacking forward who is a budding three level scorer. Undersized but plays with a chip on his shoulder
Chris Harris (6’6″ | F | 2022) – Multi-skilled forward who can score inside and outside. Has long arms and can defend multiple positions
Marquis Harris (6’5″ | F | 2022) – Bossier forward plays bigger than his size. His above the rim finishes have been highlight worthy
D’Shawn Hunt (6’5″ | F | 2022) – Southern Lab forward is a banger; he can finish around the rim amidst contact with the best of them
Noah Jonker (6’5″ | SF | 2022) – The ASH forward is the best pick-and-pop player I have seen; rebounds on both ends very well
John Kelly (6’7″ | F | 2023) – LivOn forward who can score from all three levels; great offensive rebounder and finisher at the rim
Jordan Mathews (6’5″ | F | 2024) – Athletic forward from Peabody who is tough to stop in the paint; built like a football player
Kyran Ratliff (6’8″ | F | 2022) – New Orleans forward who played at high level for LivOn, attending prep school for his senior season
Tyler Ringgold (6’7″ | SF | 2023) – One of the better forwards in Louisiana regardless of class; his face up game is hard to defend
Jackson Swartz (6’5″ | F | 2022) – Forward who can shoot well from distance; attacks the rim well from the wing
Jalen Taylor (6’4″ | F | 2022) – The Benton forward has really improved his footwork around the rim; very strong and plays through contact
Dionjahe Thomas (6’8″ | F | 2022) – Uber-athletic foward from Ellender was a rim-protector and a force in the paint for Louisiana Elite
Desmond Washington (6’5″ | F | 2022) – Very good rebounder with a bevy of post moves, can score over either shoulder;
Josh Washington (6’5″ | F | 2023) – The Jesuit forward is a force in the paint; has expanded his game beyond the three point arc
Solomon Washington (6’7″ | SF | 2022) – Louisiana’s top player had a very good summer for his high school team and Team Thad
De’Cedric Webb (6’4″ | SF | 2023) – Scary athletic with untapped skill; can defend the post and the perimeter; offensive game still developing
Labree Williams (6’6″ | SF | 2022) – The Calvary forward is the most creative finisher in the paint. Very skilled shooter from outside as well
Pat Williams (6’6″ | F | 2022) – Super atheltic forward from Wossman who can defend positions 1-5. Dynamic finisher in transition
As we move into August, many of these player will be attending elite camps like the Prep Hoops Top 250 or elite camps held on college campuses around various states.
