Michael Kates Michael Kates 5'9" | PG Maize South | 2024 State KS , 5’10, Buddy Buckets KS 2024 (Pictured): Very talented guard who is starting to rise on radars across the state. Helped lead a loaded backcourt for the 15U Buddy Buckets Kansas team with his shooting ability, creation with the ball in his hands for others, and hard nosed defensive ability. Kates can give ya games scoring the ball at a high level or games where he can get everyone involved and bring a balanced attack.
Jackson Voth, 5’10, Buddy Buckets KS 2024: Kates’s back court mate this summer, Voth is poised to continue to have a tremendous high school career at Cheney after posting a strong summer together. Plays with a chip on his shoulder on both ends of the floor. Can guard 94 ft, knock down open shots, and can get into the painted area and make plays.
Carter Coombs, 5’10, SSA Elite 2024 Black: Coombs is an electric guard that can get going on the offensive end in a hurry. Had some pretty big games in the circuit run but could not quite find that consistency but when the flashes showed, he was big time. Has great range from the perimeter and when he gets down hill as a playmaker, can be really effective.
Griffin Heger, 5’6, SSA Elite 2024 White: Smaller guard, but one of the toughest and upbeat guards I saw in the summer. Plays with tremendous passion and intensity on the floor. Had some games where he absolutely filled up the scoring sheet, especially from the 3 point line. Has no fear in his game and stays in attack mode.
David Cobin, 5’8, KC Spurs Black: Tournament in and tournament out was always one of the top point guards in the 2024 class I saw. Has tremendous feel for the game and poise in the back court, the makings of a big time floor general. Had a tough injury towards the end of the summer that we hope heals up in time for him to make the impact on the high school scene like he should.
Josiah Polynice, 6’, KC Spurs Silver: A ball hounding guard in the back court who uses his athleticism to impact the game on both ends of the floor. Has great pace and ability to get into the painted area and put pressure on defenses while being a great on ball defender in his own right.
